This so speaks to the time in which it was released.

By in Australia,

Flowers, a trans-clear minifig head (for the vase), no creepy minifig babies, and two candle-sticks? What more do you want in your television room?

Pretty fitting set for those watching the election (please don't do any politics here though)

{old codger’s voice} I remember when these were the only LEGO figures. And we liked ‘em! {end voice}

Am I the only one who likes this theme? Would love to see a relaunch in minifig scale.

That’s a great idea! A ‘dollhouse’ theme with interchangeable furniture and room packs would be nice.

Some cute builds in this set for the candlesticks and the clear minifig head as a vase.

These are the best kind of Homemaker set. Cheap, simple, and well-designed.

We still have two working CRTs in the household. Probably one of the last in the US. I'm not really paranoid, but they really can't track you in the same ways they do the modern Smart TVs (and as of right now, that's my current TV, and the one in the living room). The big one (a Symphonic) is 20 years old, and the little one I used to have is 15. My PS2 games look fine on the 15" Sylvania (which these days, being used for older consoles is about all it does); but watching TV with 4:3 resolution on the CRT, when everything is 1`6:9 these days sucks.

I love this little viginette! You've got a young woman just sitting there doing her knitting while watching the news on the TV.

By in Turkey,

It's interesting to see that almost every part is still in use and the furniture is designed studless.

I had a TV from 1992 in my room, but finally went ka-put in 2015. So we got a TV from a thrift store from 1986! With its remote! Put it on a corner when we moved (still worked!) and it was gone in less than 24 hours.

I still have my 32 inch CRT from college, 20 years old and moved it like 10 times. Only use it to play Super Nintendo.

By in Australia,

Have a few of these homemaker sets from the 70’s, but not this one. Furniture is oddly satisfying, maxi figures are amusingly awful.

Love it. Thanks Huwbot.

2020 - 1978 = 42

She's very old now

By in Netherlands,

Wait, candlesticks? I thought those were armless dolls.

By in United States,

My old RCA 19” from college died in 2005 or so. It was a great TV but I was sad that it only lasted ten years. It had a wonderful picture AND stereo sound. I had my SNES and later N64 and then PS2 and GameCube hooked up to it.

I knew something was wrong when I turned it on one day and the PS2 logo looked a little faded. I think it wasn’t more than a week later and everything was black and white.

Could they not think of any piece to represent knitting needles? I realise options were a bit more limited in 1978 but they were clever enough with the vase and candlesticks

Gravatar
By in Australia,

That’s the weirdest STAMP- is that a tile on the tv?

Gravatar
By in Australia,

I really want that old telly! I saw just2good do a review of Colour TV (the name of the set) and I called my mother over so we could both have a laugh, since colour TV was such a new and amazing thing back then nowadays it would just be called Television.

I agree that a minfig scale theme like this would be very cool and useful, it would be great for those fans who like to do custom interiors for the modular buildings.

The only thing is these old sets have the awesome old fashioned stuff which I like (I managed to find a rare Fabuland 1950s fridge piece along with a rotary phone and Hoover vacuum cleaner) but a modern theme would of course have modern stuff which sucks for me. (I like building old stuff, my city is set in the 50s so a lot of the Classic 1970s/80s/90s era Lego particularly relating to minifigs works great)

By in United Kingdom,

Not to be confused with 274 colour tv and chair. Maybe mum needed her own separate room to watch the soaps! Shame the tv sticker is across two bricks as unlikely to have lasted until now. I was going to mention that you would have to be careful not to knock the vase or candles over, a big 70's problem, but from the instructions they used a 2x1 tile with center single stud so TLG thought of everything.

By in Germany,

I kinda like these old homemaker sets. they have an interesting 70s charme.

Gravatar
By in United States,

always loved this theme. alas never saw it for sale when i was growing up way back yonder

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Despite the huge figure, I bought this in around 1978 as i really needed those 1x4 red arches and the trans minifig head too. I had no need for the other parts at all but to get these unusual bits was all that mattered, even though I had no real use for them. I still have the TV though, made up of 2 2x4 bricks with 2 2x2 white tiles on top and a sticker to the front as it was when i assembled it 40+ years ago - It is currently featured in an electrical shop MOC in my city layout...
