New minifigure packs to be released in June
Posted by Huw,![](https://cdn.statically.io/img/live.staticflickr.com/65535/49908174743_c6bd0090e8_n.jpg)
Two hitherto unseen minifigure packs are to be released on 1st June: 40418 Falcon and Black Widow, and 40419 Hogwarts students.
The latter is particularly interesting because it contains someone who's not appeared in minifigure form before, and a new version of a rare character.
40418 Falcon and Black Widow
This set contains four minifigures: Falcon, Black Widow, and two AIM agents, and a 1x1 round brick shooter.
Falcon has made several apperances as a minifigure before but this is an entirely new version, with brick-built wings instead of a single piece.
This is the 6th minifigure version of Black Widow. It has a new torso print but shares the same head, hair and legs as the one in this year's 76162 Black Widow's Helicopter Chase. The printed arms are new though and look great.
The two AIM agents in the set are identical and the same as those in the Marvel sets released earlier this year.
The brick-shooter may well provide some playability but is largely superfluous.
40419 Hogwarts Students
This set contains four minifigures, one from each of the Hogwarts school houses. They all have similar torsos, differing only in the colour of the tie print and trim at the bottom of their jumpers, and creasing.
Harry Potter, representing Gryffindor, and Draco Malfoy from Slytherin, have appeared in minifigure form many times before, so it's perhaps a shame that other representatives from their houses were not included instead.
However, Hannah Abbot, on the left, from Hufflepuff, has never appeared as a minifigure and Cho Chang of Ravenclaw, has only appeared once before, in the Harry Potter collectable minifigure series, with completely different hair and a skirt. Her alternative expression is new as well.
Students in Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff are under-represented as minifigures so these generic torsos, combined with heads and hairpieces from your collection, will enable you to bolster the numbers at your Hogwarts for a relatively low cost. In fact, it's a shame that a few extra heads and hairs were not included to allow this.
The set also contains a small book case and a unique tile printed with the Marauder's Map.
Both sets will be availably from June 1st at LEGO.com and I estimate that they will cost $12.99/£11.99, based on past precedent.
Thanks to LEGO for providing the sets for this article. All opinions expressed are my own.

Harry and Draco? Seriously?! I get it: it's an impulse/gift type purchase designed to be purchased by people who don't own any sets themselves, but goodness gracious! Harry's in every dang set! There are other great options for getting a Harry figure fairly cheaply. I'm sure he'll also take up at least a couple spots in the upcoming CMF.
Wish LEGO was allowed to do these for Star Wars.
They put that map in there just so I have to buy it, didn’t they?
no Ninjago??????
YES, GOOD. I'm definitely gonna chase down that Hannah Abbot minifigure sometime; Susan Bones has been getting lonely as the only Hufflepuff in my Hogwarts Great Hall! (Also: proud Hufflepuff over here xD) The others are less interesting to me; even Cho, since I already got the CMF version of her to include in said Great Hall - though I find it interesting to note that her hairpiece here is the same one they gave her in the Lego Harry Potter video games. Neat little back-reference there?
That said... if I'd been choosing characters for this set, I would probably have put Pansy Parkinson instead of Draco (she's easy to make; just need a sneering female face and a brown version of Hannah's hairpiece), then maybe... Terry Boot or Michael Corner or someone as the Ravenclaw? I dunno, besides Luna and Cho, we don't see many prominent Ravenclaw students in canon. And I'd probably have put one of the Gryffindor Quidditch team in instead of Harry*... maybe Angelina Johnson, which would allow another different skin tone to be included too?
...then again, maybe I SHOULD just get the whole pack, then I can substitute heads and hairpieces to make the student characters who *I'd* want to be present, rather than expecting Lego to do it for me xD Only thing is whether I'd then be able to fit all of them into my Great Hall, it's gonna get rather crowded...
*Though I do understand including Harry. He's in literally every scene in the books, except for the very first chapters of 1, 4, 6 and 7; so by that reasoning it makes sense to put him in every set, too, since he's always the audience's viewpoint on the Magical world.
The Marvel one looks meh but I like the Harry Potter one despite not being a Harry Potter fan.
Doubt I'll buy either though as their not my cup of tea.

There was the one with golden zane in April I believe
Oh, by the way, do we know where these are gonna be available? Are they just gonna show up on shop shelves, or are they a Lego shop exclusive / gift with purchase thing? Just wondering; I've not seen any of the previous packs like these available to buy anywhere, so I dunno where these would be found.
Why have the Hogwarts kids got the standard legs and not the new medium ones? I would have bought that set just for the legs if they had them.
I like both especially the marvel one but I'd use the old wings from the lab break out on falcon.. prefer them!!
I think better figures could of been used for harry Potter such as Voldemort or Severus snape...
That black widow looks like the one from the upcoming Helicarrier set.
Oh cool! I like the HP one.
Liking the Falcon mini figure! I'm lucky to own a couple of different Falcons but I'm glad people get the chance for the more colourful version.
After seeing these, the price of Star Wars battle packs don't seem as extreme.
A bit fed up with Harry Potter figs ! I would prefer another unreleased student from Hoghwart.
I liked the format Starter pack of 4 characters with accessories and / or a mini vehicle for 9.99 € which seems to have definitively disappeared.
This new type of packaging seems to be more polluting: surplus plastic + much more volume lost in transport boxes from factory to store.
Yessss, I love them. My only complaint is Cho Chang as I think it’s a wasted spot. I have done some research and can’t find that hair style on her. I suppose it’s just so we can have an older version of her for OotP which is reasonable as long we get another pack next year featuring Pansy Parkinson. Btw love the new falcon and that we can get the black widow for cheap. Also love Hannah Abbot as she is pretty obscure which shows how hardcore Lego are being with this line. I mean it is unlikely we will get it again so I think they are trying to get as many variants and characters no matter how minor in.
I like variety in my superhero sets as much as the next guy, and while I like that AIM is getting a look in ... I find the Marvel sets, this year, a little underwhelming. One set with AIM villains would've been more than enough, but a whole line of them? All of them, pretty much, the same figure? There are so many colourful and bright villains to choose from, is there a reason that this year was the AIM year?
Like how 2020 was Year of the Monster Truck for City and Creator sets?
Huge fan of the Falcon minifigure itself. While it is nothing like his current comic costume (which comic fans are largely "meh" about), it brings in enough of the classic feel that it is very exciting. Not a huge fan of the wing design. I recently did custom brick-built wings for a "Sam Wilson in street clothes" minifigure that look better so that's what I will use.
Black Widow is great.
AIM...ughhh...AIM has one of the all time great comic henchmen costumes (great in the sense of how bizarrely lame they were) and these video games designs are the worst. And that is in all aspects...Captain America's uniform in the game is an absolute tragedy.

I think the point was to include a student from each hogwarts house, enabling collectors to form a proper school. Including none student figures would defeat the purpose.
Yay Hufflepuff. Long live the bumbling badger of mediocrity!
For a company talking about environmental impact these days, quite why these are in such plastic-heavy packaging, I don’t know.
That Potter pack is sure to please HP fans including myself. I’m sooo getting it.
Although I wish they’d stop trying to pretend that is Cho. I don’t know why they made her face so long or her skin so dark when the actress doesn’t look like that.

Because these minifigs are based on years 5-7 so have full sized legs, just like this years' sets. 1-2 has small legs and 3-4 has medium legs.
I wish marvel got the same love and care Harry Potter does... these pack highlight the difference in quality/thought between the2licenses... HP - 4x useful minifigs (accepting Harry potters been done a million times before... but kids would prob still want one) and useful pieces like a book, printed tile, apple and lantern and mini bookshelf (can be used in other buildings/modulars etc)... where’s marvel get 1.5 exclusive minifigs... and 2 AIM agents - who are already present is substantial numbers in all the marvel sets so army building already not a problem... and a side build of... a stud shooter... it makes me sad marvel doesn’t get any creative love!
I like the format! I would kill for a pack with a few of the forthcoming HP centaurs or a pack with forthcoming Ninjago orcs and goblins.

I mean, battle packs
THis is really good! I was just considering buying 76050 crossbones hazard heist in order to get black widow and falcon!
I'm getting all of them, no questions asked lol
I do find it odd that the printed arms Black Widow is in here but not the more expensive helicoper set?
I'm pretty sure it's been used once or twice before, but I love the packaging for these
You could very easily make the Patil Twins out of that Cho Chang figure. You just need two of this pack and put the head, hands and hair of Cho for one of the figures on a Gryffindor torso!
I'll definitely be getting at least 2 or 3 packs of the HP ones so I can create more students for my Great Hall. I really wish BnPs would start selling the medium legs.
For those complaining about the packaging I keep the plastic bubble pieces to hold small parts when I am building.
Definitely picking up the Marvel pack!
I wonder if that's a printed 1x2 tan book tile in the HP set? Maybe something new besides the typical one?
It definitely would have been nice to get the medium-sized legs in bulk, especially for making Dwarves from the Iron Hills in the LotR Hobbit franchise, or for adding some more adolescents to a high-school MOC.
What about the LEGO Sesame Street set?

Lol I totally get it but the theme IS called Harry Potter. It’s like that dang Batman showing up in all those Lego Batman Movie sets!
Falcon is neat. If only he had his wings attached to his arms.
Aim soldiers. Well what can i say? Waste of good plastic?

Or Kai showing up in every other Ninjago set.

I had heard somewhere that there's been a licence re-negotiation between Lucasfilm, Lego and Hasbro that could theoretically give Lego more scope in the 'non-construction' area, so don't loose all hope yet
Harry Potter battle pack
Wish they sculpted out the Falcon's wings better. Something just a little more interesting.
But a start to make a decent mod from.
@Brick_Bricky_McBrickface I wouldn't call four AIM agents in three sets- one not even released yet- "substantial numbers". I'd buy a pack of four identical AIM soldiers!
So a few people seem to have noticed the main point of the HP pack, which is that you get a full spread of all four House torsos. They could have done a better job than picking Harry and Draco, sure, but the worst part about it is that anyone who buys a pile of these will end up with a bunch of leftover Harry heads that can't be used for anything else. At least the other three heads are generic enough to be repurposed for other minifigs.
Cho's skin is too dark. As a Chinese I can honestly say I'm very disappointed with Lego, if not offended.
This feels like a format that is not embraced by fans and LEGO as much as it could. For me it is the perfect way to expand figures for existing sets, where other sets are unlikely to be commercially achievable.
I imagine fan bases like Doctor Who, Stranger Things and BTTF would leap at equivalent sets.
As for Star Wars, I assumed that was what Battle Packs are for.
I won’t be able to get these as my nearest LEGO Store is in Sydney five hours away, but I don’t really want these anyway :(.
I am definitely going to be buying the Harry Potter one. Where else can you access a Marauder's Map for that low of a price?
The set's Cho looks more like the raw makings for the Patil twins.
Falcon look horrible!
At last the Great Hall will be busy. All I need is to switch heads, and I can get a good variety of Hogwarts students.
@quixotequest:
Or just call her Padma, since she's also Ravenclaw.

Give it a rest! My ex-wife was Chinese and she was very dark. I am of Indian (Native American) descent and I have very fair skin. You are only offended because you chose to be offended.
The Harry Potter pack is £13.49, that's a stupid price. They have priced me out on these for sure.
@BuzzFluhart:
These minifigs are representative of the movie cast, not the books. So, whatever skin tone Rowling may have envisioned, in the movies she's played by Katie Leung, who has a very light complexion. While you're correct that Chinese complexion can vary quite a bit, in this instance people have a legitimate gripe.
However, they seem to have pretty well cemented the idea that Light-Flesh means Caucasian, so if they'd gone with Light-Flesh for Cho, they'd probably be getting ill-informed complaints about how they did a minifigure four-pack that's just a bunch of white people, with no inclusiveness (besides a 50/50 gender split). And they can't just make fifty bazillion skintones just to make sure they get a perfect match every time. Legitimate or not, it's basically tilting at windmills.
