I honestly thought this was featured set of the day for a second 'cause it's just such a classic

The RSotD was an hour early, today. I imagine daylight savings has kicked in or turned off, in the UK?

This was another castle set that I never did buy, and regret now.

Be interesting to see what the Lego Ideas team do with the Medieval blacksmith set following the Pirate Bay classic pirates homage. Wasn't this set also fan designed?

It was turned on, though many were sleeping possibly and under lock-down.

This would pass even today's standards.
A truly beautiful set.

@Andhe Yes! This was the first fan designed set. They used the banner My Own Creation. Daniel Siskind was the create. There was nice interview with him published when the set was releaste. I've see if I can find it again. Lego made a couple of odd changes if you've seen the original. And there was a spinning wheel in the original that wasn't not include.

Parts Analysis: All the parts for the girl are rare except for her hair. The chrome gold horn is worth about $1.42 used. Part 4213 is rare in green (3 sets).

Cool old set. It was the first fan designed set LEGO ever sold. The designer, Dan Siskind, has a custom LEGO set company called Brickmania. They (BKM) celebrated 20 years on 2019. Dan even put out an homage micro set called the Bricksmith Shop in 2019. Brickmania primarily makes custom military sets and minifigs. Check them out: https://www.brickmania.com

Great set. The parts inventory is missing the doors, not sure how to fix that.

By in New Zealand,

Goodness me, that’s a lovely long German word.

By in Australia,

Very nice set. I just wish I got more castle than that lackluster 2013 wave. I don’t count the few Nexo Knights sets I own.

By in Turkey,

I don't usually collect Castle sets, but this was such a beautiful set that I couldn't resist.

Such an awesome set, shame I was in a dark age when this was released.

Just2good just had this in his hands in a Tokyo toy shop. I forgot how much they wanted to charge, but it was A LOT.

Blue roof tiles? Not a fan....

I'm really excited to see what they will do with the Medieval Blacksmith Ideas set. Pirates of Baracuda Bay turned out absolutely amazing, and I can see a lot of potential with Medieval Blacksmith as well.
For those people out there who missed out on the original set, the Ideas one might be your chance!

Is that blood on her face? Has he attacked her? Should we call the police??

I have this. I bought it from the Lego Store in Milton Keynes. I didn't go to MK very often but I think that was the era of the Collectormania events taking place in the shopping centre and we (me and my sister) used to go to them. It was the Lego Store's fault that I missed seeing Giles from Buffy. My sister had a numbered ticket to get his autograph and it was meant to be a long wait so I went off to Lego Store which for those who know MK shopping centre is completely at the other end of the centre. But the queue moved quicker and her number was called. She text me "Giles. Now." I ran back but couldn't get into the queue so had to stand on a giant plant pot to see him from a distance. Ahh memories. Sorry a bit of a rambling story there but these are unusual times.
Anyway I love my Blacksmith Cottage. One of my favourite sets. And my sister is still a Buffy fan.

What a fancy dress for that blacksmith!

I got this one! Was great value, even then. One of my first sets after my dark ages, got it for Christmas the same year as I also got 10027 Train engine shed. Now those were good choices!

Okay it's settled: new quarantine project is to cobble this together on my own. What a classic beauty.

This set has always looked so cool, honestly. Even at the time, it was on my wanted list, though I never actually bought it... I think it was a Lego shop @ home exclusive, and back in the day I preferred to buy things I could actually buy up in person locally, rather than ordering online (I recall only a couple of exceptions). The minifigures, if anyone's interested, were variants of Knights' Kingdom I characters; apparently Sir John of Mayne retired from being a knight and took up blacksmithing instead, and Queen Leonara joined him.

The background painting there too is REALLY NEAT. Really adds to the set's atmosphere ^^

@CliveyB - No, this was the era when Lego heads would often have hair printed around the face, especially if they wore a hat (which she did in her original appearances as the queen of the Knights' Kingdom I line), which is what we're seeing here; she has brown curls down the sides of her face. The blacksmith here has printed hair of that kind too - which is an odd case with him, as his printed hair is *brown*, in contrast to his black hairpiece.

I was just looking at this set the other day when I was reorganizing my collection; it's a great-looking set with lots of neat features and details. Lego could release this today and it would be a good seller.

Ah yes, the first fan-made LEGO set!

I got my set autographed by Dan back in 2010.

It looks like the path on the box art goes through the house.

By in United States,

Was this the final appearance of the old 1x2x2 windows? Bricklink says production spanned 1965-2003 but I can't find the 2003 release...

This set was pretty revolutionary in 2002 for a number of reasons, but it hasn't aged all that well, IMO. There are too many different primary colors being used and the geometry is simple by modern standards. If you're trying to BrickLink one today, I would ditch the green and yellow.

619 pieces for $40 was a great deal, though.
