I feel like we're seeing a lot of Harry Potter lately...
Where's @Isabella_and_Lego_Liker ? You're good with these stats, you have any info?
In retrospect, this is actually kind of a dark seen to replicate. Kind of on the same levels of https://brickset.com/article/43050/random-set-of-the-day-tusken-raider-encounter to where it's not explicit what happens within the set, but with context from the movie, it's a little messed up that it's in LEGO form.
^^Not really, only 3 in the last 14 days.
Last one before the three was back on November 5th.
This would probably be $70 if it was released today

That's still around what I thought - that's not Bionicle or Clikits levels of high frequency by any means, but it's still a bit more lucky than any other theme with approximately the same number of sets.
Thanks for the info!
I loved this set. A spooky graveyard was what my Lego city had always been missing, and this set fits perfectly (more or less, heh) on a 32 x 32 baseplate.
THIS IS IT, LUIGI.
Pardon my dated memes, but that is the thought that flashed through my head when I first saw this was the random set. This WAS it for many Lego fans, one of the most sought after sets both for Harry Potter fans, as this was Voldemort's only appearance as a minifigure until 2010, and it depicted the climatic turning point of the series, and fans of spooky sets, as this set was perhaps the darkest in tone Lego had released to date, essentially reenacting a satanic-ish sacrificial ritual, with most minifigures in this set merely dead skeletons who appear to now rise from their graves, though that never really happened in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.
I've been waiting for an oppurunity to compare this one to the 2019 one. I only have the new one though.
I think we can agree the new one has better minifigures on the most part, while the old has the better graveyard build. The stand out minifigures in this one are the exclusive black skeleton and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named himself. I really love Lego's own depiction of Voldemort with the markings around the eyes, different and unique from both the books and movies. Would love to see Lego go back to the theme's roots by putting their own spin on things now and then.
There was tons of fluff in this old version compared to the new one, but it was quality fluff. Graves with a pop-up skeleton, exclusive prints of buried skeleton halves. A shed with a false floor with bodies underneath, and tools outside, I think the 1x1 sand green cones near the bin are to represent a coiled hose. There's a coffin cart and a bat tree with a skeleton shackled to die there. There's Tom Riddle's grave with the statue with black Buckbeak wings, snakes have been inexplicably interred in Riddle's resting place, you wonder what Wormtail did to the body after taking his bone! Then the two sets of fences, one around Riddles Grave and one in front of the graveyard, both using chain pieces in different ways but to great effect. Of course the cauldron was included seperately, albeit with no potion ingredients, although the knife used to procure the ingredients is nice chrome here and just plain grey in 2019.
Both sets have their strengths and weaknesses, however this version overdoing the scene was fitting, as it was the last Harry Potter set in the original run to represent a major plot point, and the last to feature the conflict between Harry and Voldemort. I wonder if the Assault on Hoth approach worked well on this or if it sold poorly. It has become one of the most expensive HP sets to buy even used, so maybe it did end up being a niche product as well during its life.
Now that we have a Cedric Diggory figure, we can complete the scene by featuring the cold-blooded murder of an unarmed adolescent! Fun times for the whole family!
Just looked on Bricklink and Voldemort comes in different variations, with either a light or dark bluish gray cloak, and a transparent or opaque glow in the dark head with either silver or red eye markings. Wow. Just another reason this set is such an enigma and legend. The price is incredible for what you get.
Also, the designers must have been high when designing the alternate build.
@MCLegoboy
The newer version of the set is even more darkly thematic, with all potion ingredients included, including pieces representing Wormtail's hand and Harry's blood.
This is a fun set
I always wanted this set as a kid, though ironically I still haven't picked up the recent remake. Hidden Side has been taking priority.
Interesting to see a graveyard in Lego. I must think about this in my next Town layout.
Skeletons has never been my thing and if we remove those the remake from last year have at least the same amount of figs! So I must say the new set is better value, but at least the old one had a couple of owls. Last year we did not get a single normal set with a owl, but hopefully that will change in 2020 ;)
And the best LEGO graveyard award goes to...
This set was a favorite of my kids back in the day! They were both into HP. My daughter wanted this set as much as my son did, they had to share it. It was a very frequently used set. Also used for Halloween settings & along side the Egyptian Adventure sets my son loved, that had skeletons but lacked a graveyard setting.
Oh, yes. Thank goodness they remade it last year. I still need to get that one...
Oh yes, that weird period of lego in the mid-00s when every skeleton turned EVIL.
Pretty good source of skeletons, this one.
Harry Potter sets all came out during dark my ages, so no nostalgia factor.
This set still looks interesting however, I love the creatures in the tree.
Still would've personally prefered themes to stick to yellow heads,.
Ah yes, I really wanted this as a kid, despite not knowing anything about Harry Potter. Probably because cemetery's are spooky and I like spooky things as a child. Too bad the new doesn't have quite the same zazz or I'd have picked it up by now!
I hate Harry potter

Harry Potter forgives you. He died for your sins.
