Random set of the day: Propeller Buggy

Today's random set is 3001 Propeller Buggy, released in 1999. It's one of 33 Technic sets produced that year. It contains 29 pieces.
It's owned by 88 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you might find it for sale at BrickLink or eBay.

I don't know, I like it when Technic releases these cute little polybag-esque sets. I find them charming.

Propeller Buggy??
Are those oil drop symbols on the gas pumps, or are those gauges? They also have lightning bolts on the signs above them. Sort of ahead of its time?
@Balthazar_Brannigan I think the lower symbols are rather gauge needles, pointing at the zero value.
looking at hose lightning bolt symbols on the fuel pumps, is this supposed to be an electric buggy? In 1999? Wait, is that why its propellor powered? So many questions from such a tiny set...

That is indeed a very random set
I guess it could be a wind powered buggy, capable of driving against the wind direction, bypassing the petrol station.
If not for the lousy propeller efficiency and friction losses.
I would like to see a UCS version of this with approx. 5000 pieces.
I am not going to lie, this is a cute set.
Ugh. I hate when they use flex tubes and panels for shaping instead of adding real functions. That's not what Technic is supposed to be!

3001 is the id of the 2x4 brick, so searching ebay just gives that as a result, and noone is selling either version of the buggy on Bricklink : (
Technic polybags--why aren't they being done anymore?
Looks pretty good for how few parts are used.
