Review: 30383 Naboo Starfighter

LEGO has developed an impressive range of sets that celebrate the twentieth anniversary of LEGO Star Wars, including two polybags. 30383 Naboo Starfighter lacks the anniversary branding which is interesting as the vehicle was available during 1999 in 7141 Naboo Fighter.
Nevertheless, this model appears impressive so may improve upon previous miniature versions of this prominent starfighter.
The Completed Model
Several different renditions of the Naboo N-1 Starfighter have appeared in LEGO sets, ranging in size from tiny Advent Calendar models to minifigure scale renditions. This model is significantly larger than the official images indicate, measuring 14cm in length. Its elegant shape has therefore been replicated accurately as curved slopes and inverted slopes are used to excellent effect.
The fuselage is especially attractive in my opinion, featuring a streamlined cockpit and a white element which represents an Astromech droid. However, the two studs in front of the trans-black cockpit appear slightly out of place and the cylindrical engines are too small. Larger round bricks would be too wide so this design was probably the most appropriate alternative, despite its imperfect proportions.
No such issues are found towards the rear. I like the decorative finial which is represented by a 6L bar and has been integrated beautifully with the fuselage, forming a rigid connection. The entire craft feels remarkably sturdy which is important for play and I think it looks marvellous on display as well.
Overall
30383 Naboo Starfighter is an enjoyable model. Its proportions do not correspond precisely with the source material but such compromises are almost inevitable when designing a miniature vehicle like this one. The organic shaping looks brilliant though, representing a considerable improvement when compared with 9674 Naboo Starfighter & Naboo which is similar in scale.

Very very bland in my opinion. Lacks the power of ones like assault on Hoth. Good review of a boring set though ;-) But compared to other polybags I guess it’s fine.
More dioramas.
I buy just about any polybag I find (with the exception of Friends, though I have bought some for parts that interested me). I always build polybags and other small sets as puzzle builds, referring only to the photos on the outside of the packaging. This one was fairly simple. I think the model is decent, though... pretty swooshable.

I prefer the one from the Planet set. Its scale is much better.
^^ I'm still sad that several of those Planet sets will probably stay on my wish list forever because they were never released in the US and are too expensive now. They were neat sets, though, and I love breaking out the several I do have every Christmas.
I bought this set and the polybag set of Anakin's Podracer. Why it lacks any anniversary branding is strange. This one is so superior to the podracer. (Podracer is delicate and ugly). I like this build and am grateful I bought this Naboo Starfighter. Thanks for the review.
I like this model, but the engine assemblies are way too fragile with just a single stud connection. They fall off all the time.
