Man, the Spider-Man Minifigure has really come a long way!
I think I have this set as the vehicles and the minifigure look familiar.
I really need to look into selling it because the minifigure sells for ~$50 on bricklink!
IIRC, Spider-Man started off as an off-shoot of the studios theme, but then it just kind of morphed into its own weird little sub-theme. The grandfather of the current superhero themes?
I like that the cat is coming out of the trash can.
“Keep out”
As the criminal, hero, and police all ignore that sign.
The head looks familiar... Is that an old ferrari driver's head?
Such classic 4-stud wide car designs.
More advanced then 80s and 90s, but nothing like today's City designs.
Is Spider-Man the first licensed LEGO Superhero, and the second superhero after the Super Station Master?
@natro220 - while it may still be true that Spiderman minifigs have come a long way, I think that this particular set represents a scene where Spiderman still has a very crude homemade outfit (more like sweats, if memory serves). Hence, "first chase".
@Dieselville my comment was completely tongue in cheek...sarcasm doesn’t come across very well online.
@natro220 Tell me about it. Whenever I text my friends anything sarcastic I usually get sent back a bunch of question marks.
I wanted this set just for the police car and the civilian car. The designs are so much more sophisticated than the preceding Town Junior police and civilian cars! I still want it, but the Spider-Man license makes it crazy expensive on the secondary market.
I’m pretty sure I got this set from Toys R Us for £5 back in the day. Time marches on, eh?
I’ve just parted this set out. Some nice pieces in the old greys. The minifigure price on BrickLink is ludicrous. I’ve tried selling Spidey on eBay for £25 and no one was interested
Good design.
I love that this set includes Sam Raimi's Oldsmobile that appears in all his movies.
