I love how the armor is one shield on the bow of the ship...then equipped with two cross bows!
I'm almost certain that my 14-year-old self bought this *just* get one of those cool lion shields.
This set makes me happy when I look at it. :)
Royal Knights - surely the knights with one of the best castles lego has produced
Always outnumbered, never outgunned.
I loved the cuteness of this set that I bought two of them during my childhood!
My grandpa owned this, he gave it to me when i was younger, and its Surprisingly still intact. I enjoyed it a lot back then, and i still have it up on my shelf.
I'm just gonna post 'bring back castle' under any castle article until they bring back castle.
Good set.
I remember buying this at NE Ohio toy store called Kiddie City in the late 80s. Still have it.
^do you mean late 90’s? This set wasn’t released until 1996.
I wonder who would win in a fight between this set and 6245 Harbour Sentry? Even as a kid I thought it was kind of overkill to have a huge cannon in a row boat.
If only Lego would bring back Castle...
One should note that for many countries this was the only available castle set in 1996. The 3 Dark Forest sets as well as the Spyrius/Royal Knights Value Pack were officially all NA exclusive.
Also this one of very few sets that had 3 more or less exact re-issues:
A boxed version available in Europe and most likely Australia and New Zealand
A polybag version available in North America
A Kabaya varsion available exclusively (?) in Japan. Note that the Kabaya version included the updated torso with the modern internal supports that were not available prior to late 1997.
I had the 6078 Royal Drawbridge set which was great. The only weird part about it was the "dragon knight" minifig came with an older Black Knight shield (blue dragon instead of later green)
I suppose that design of set was fairly popular because they remade it multiple times later on across other Castle themes.
