Today's random set is 2883 Boat, released in 1997. It's one of 47 Town sets produced that year. It contains 28 pieces.

I love this little guy. This range of sets (these days, they'd be polybags, but I remember when these came out, they were all in little boxes) were so lovely and great. The little pink barbecue (2870) was my absolute favourite, but this little speedboat was so cute and charming. It was easy to build more of them, I think I eventually created an entire fleet of these, all in different colours.

Spent 10 minutes on the Frame100 podcast ranting about these old minifigure-less minifigure-scale vehicle sets. Even made a bricklist about these dang things :D
Huh, missing minifigure--I thought that's something only the dollar store fake sets did.
