Oh no! They were ready for that!
I picked this set up in an "antique toy" auction lot a couple months ago, never opened. I wish LEGO would do more sets like this these days, especially considering that price!
Pau Gasol is one of four players that appeared in this series who are still active in the NBA; the others are Tony Parker, Dirk Nowitzki, and Vince Carter.
Oh, hello Lego's first flesh-toned minifigures ever. I didn't expect to see you here.
Never was big on real-life sports so I didn't get any of these; but I do like that they followed in the same vein as the 1999/2000 minifigure packs.
Not sure why the leftmost minifigure's shirt doesn't match the picture on his card for colour, though... was that just to make more variety than having two wearing white in the same set, perhaps?
I enjoyed the spring loaded legs. I feel that with the play value, the Sports sets could still do well if similar sets were released today.
LEGO should return with the sports theme.
@BionicleJedi The dark colored uniforms are worn for away games and light colored for home games. Like you said they probably wanted a good mix and variety.
Big NBA fan but was too young when these came out. I would like to get some Lego NBA players but these ones aren't good enough. Lego hadn't really got the hang of depicting real people in minifigure form yet. Would like to see a CMF series like the Germany football team one, with current players.
