I love these little airline-promo one-off sets; Lego never puts out designs like these for the mass market; it's like they used the airline promos to experiment a little with different styles and techniques...

In this set's case, it's a stretch to discover what real-life purpose this vehicle actually performs, but it looks good as a way to flesh out your classic-style airport with some liveried ground vehicles on display. I'm lucky to have sought this out and found it before the prices go up and up and up.

I miss the classic 4-stud wide cars and trucks.

By in United States,

I've seen lots of these airline-only sets on Brickset's database...where were they sold? Granted, my memories of being in airports in the 1990s are pretty fuzzy now, but I feel like I would've latched on to the sight of a LEGO set sold inside an airport somewhere!

The design behind this one is fascinating. For 1991, it shows a fusion between the vehicle designs of the 80s and the 90s. Things like the tires on the main vehicle, the roof, and the hood all indicate this was a "transition" period between the 80s and the Golden Age of the 90s.

^ You're not alone.

I loved all these special edition airport limited releases. They were usually such lovely sets, but so hard to find.

^ the set they’re selling comes without the stickers...there’s no rare parts, so without the stickers or instructions it’s worth next to nothing.

By in Czechia,

For the longest time, I thought this set contained dark pink parts, based on the picture Lugnet had of it...

Was there 1x2 mail at this time?

@Lego Lord Mayorca, most were sold on-board aircraft from the 'duty free' trolley so, yes, they were hard to find.

And, because of that, they are packed in much smaller boxes than usual.

@Chills Yes, I also miss the 4-stud wide cars. I am so used to them that now I regard suspiciously to those new of 6-stud wide. Fortunately, cars from Cars are 4-stud wide, so the fit perfectly with olders!!!
