Review: 41593 Captain Jack Sparrow

LEGO is celebrating the imminent release of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales by producing three sets based on the new film, two of which are BrickHeadz. 41593 Captain Jack Sparrow is perhaps the more appealing of these as his character is well established while we have yet to see 41594 Captain Armando Salazar in action, although I must confess that I was unable to resist purchasing both!
The Completed Model
Each of the twelve BrickHeadz released so far comes with a simple display base which features the series number and a logo for the theme. The model is attached using only two studs but stands securely and does not tip backwards, unlike some of the other figures which include bulkier hairstyles.
Captain Jack Sparrow is an iconic character and this BrickHeadz model is instantly recognisable thanks to the dark red bandana and unkempt hair. The exposed studs on the sides and back of his head are a perfect representation of the dreadlocks he wears in the films and I love the light bluish grey 1x1 round tile which represents an earring. Jack's face has also been rendered very nicely, with a printed moustache and dark bluish grey plates to represent his smokey eyes.
A 1x2 bracket is used to represent a goatee beard and the two exposed studs recall the dual braids seen in the movies. The torso is equally detailed and features a dark blue jacket along with a white shirt and striped sash. This consists of a printed 1x3 brick and a 1x2 tile which resembles a slice of streaky bacon. Furthermore, it is about the right size for a minifigure so might prove to be a popular element!
The bandana continues around the sides and back of the head but is covered by a layer of black hair in the centre. These dark colours contrast nicely with the white sleeves and sash, although some might reasonably suggest that too many colours have been packed in as the design does seem a little muddled in places.
However, I very much appreciate the asymmetry of the figure and the presence of some dark tan tiles to represent the beads and accessories in Jack's hair is a particularly pleasing touch. A dark bluish grey cutlass completes the model and this weapon can be held in either hand.
41594 Captain Armando Salazar is a remarkably monochromatic figure while 41593 Captain Jack Sparrow is the exact opposite and they present a delightful contrast on display. I am hopeful that we might see a couple more Pirates of the Caribbean BrickHeadz in future but if not then I will certainly be building some more myself!
Overall
The Pirates of the Caribbean BrickHeadz are not quite as colourful as some of the other figures in the range but 41593 Captain Jack Sparrow looks splendid, with a detailed outfit and a remarkably accurate hairstyle. The printed pieces are impressive but I find the exposed studs of the hair to be even better as they are a perfect depiction of his scruffy dreadlocks.
It would have been nice to see Jack's tricorn hat included but this is an excellent model even without it. I certainly recommend it to fans of Pirates of the Caribbean and applaud the designers for continuing to expand the diverse range of properties which are covered by the BrickHeadz theme!

Bacon tile! Bacon tile! Bacon tile!
This is a fun review, is there a spare bacon tile included or does that particular tile has an ID number so that we may beable to buy t from Lego extra pieces department?
He is one of my favorite Brickheadz. The tile still does not look like bacon to me, though.
Awesome review, there haven't been many recently. I'll be picking this one up, don't know if I'll get Salazar. And I love the bacon tile!
My sister was nice enough to pick him up for me yesterday at Rockafeller Center. I absolutely love him! I might collect the Disney ones and Star Wars if they come out with those.
I'm not a big fan of the BrickHeadz. However, I think this one in particular is excellent. It has the right details.
Lately it seems there have only been reviews of several different brickheadz. But there are so many other new sets, that could be reviewed and that may be much more interesting. Examples? How about the creator townhouse 31065? Or 60140 Bulldozer Break-In? I also waited for a review of Arkham Asylum 70912...
Surely You cannot review every interesting set and match everyones interest - but lately the range of reviews seems a bit one-dimensional?
Personally I still cannot see much appeal in the brickheadz. Wont buy any of them. But I am interested in the Silent Mary.

I'm with Straight-6 here. Enough of the Brickheadz reviews. They all look basically alike anyway, different colours, a couple of different pieces, but that's it. The most boring Lego theme in years.
Every day I come here for some interesting new reviews, and everyday I am greeted by another Brickheadz face. What's so fascinating about a box on feet? It's basically only a cube with a few bits and bobs attached.
Straight-6 and AustinPowers, I think you're being a little unfair. We haven't *just* had BrickHeadz reviews, we've also had the Anatomy of a BrickHeadz and an interview with the designer!
It does seem to have been a little BrickHeadz overload here recently. Can we have have something else now please?
Very cool review, However, I would have also liked a bit more variety on articles. Some blogs managed to add content on a daily basis despite having done an all in one review on BrickHeadz.
I appreciate your comments regarding the BrickHeadz articles and our focus is now shifting to other topics. 71042 Silent Mary will be the subject of our next review.

Brickset is imho the best Lego related site on the web and I enjoy coming here every day, not just for the reviews. And even the Brickheadz reviews in themselves are of an excellent quality, which I can and do appreciate. It is just that the Brickheadz seem to be quite controversial, which is not just true in my personal case, and as others have noted there seemed to be a little Brickheadz overload here recently. But as CapnRex101 said, they will start bringing other subjects again soon. So those who like the Brickheadz can now read all the reviews and related articles, while others like me who like other stuff more will be happy too because of the more varied content. So all is well, isn't it? Peace, and happy building.
I might buy this set just for the BACON TILE :)
@AustinPowers... In bok2's defence, what you said SEEMED to come off as quite rude. Evidently you didn't mean it that way but that's just a problem with the written word as opposed to the spoken word.

@Brainslugged: you're absolutely right. The written word can be awkward, especially if - as in my case - it isn't in the mother tongue. Keep in mind that I have to translate everything in my head first.
I was just trying to convey what I feel about the subject, and judging by comments from other users, I am not the only one who feels that way. Perhaps I should have inserted the occasional "imho" here and there to make things clearer.
In any case, bok2's answer definitely WAS rude (and kind of condescending too), no other way to interpret what he wrote.
I like bacon.
