Review: 41586 Batgirl

The BrickHeadz range has yielded plenty of elements in new colours and 41586 Batgirl contains a particularly large volume, with numerous parts appearing in purple and yellow for the first time. In addition, the figure looks splendid and incorporates some great building techniques so has proven to be a surprise favourite of mine among the ten BrickHeadz models which have been released so far!
The Completed Model
The black base consists of just four pieces but serves as an adequate accessory for display, providing an attractive contrast against Batgirl's purple suit. A 2x4 tile is decorated with the BrickHeadz branding and a series number, indicating that there will be subsequent series released in the coming months and years.
The figure is dominated by a purple and yellow colour scheme which looks very striking, especially against the muted tones of Batman's attire. The colour blocks are a little plain in relation to some of the other BrickHeadz figures but it matches the character as she appears in The LEGO Batman Movie and the symbol on her chest lends some welcome detail.
The ears on the cowl are ingeniously constructed using pentagonal tiles which line up perfectly beside a pair of 1x2 pyramidal slopes. The same technique was employed in 2016's 41491 Batman & The Joker and it looks brilliant on both occasions. Furthermore, the pentagonal tiles have only previously appeared in purple in 41491 Batman & The Joker while the 2x3 tiles on either side of the head are brand new in this colour.
A medium nougat tile represents the exposed area of her face at the front and Barbara's dark red ponytail emerges from the back of the cowl. It is swept to the right to give the impression of some movement but could be reconfigured to point in another direction if you prefer, much like the Batgirl minifigure.
The cape includes a pair of 2x3 tiles which have only appeared in yellow once before and the yellow clips which form her hands are similarly rare. I like the crenelated lower edge of the cape and the top lines up perfectly with a band around her neck, giving the impression of an attachment similar to that of a standard minifigure cape. Batgirl is armed with a yellow batarang and a second is included as a spare.
The BrickHeadz are sold individually but it is difficult to ignore the appeal of displaying them together. 41586 Batgirl looks especially impressive beside 41587 Robin as their brightly coloured suits compliment one another quite nicely. I imagine the majority of fans will purchase more than one set, leading me to wonder why they are not being sold in pairs as was the case at San Diego Comic-Con.
Overall
I was expecting little of 41586 Batgirl but it has quickly become one of my favourite BrickHeadz models. The numerous new elements included are very appealing and the figure looks excellent on display, due in particular to the ingenious assembly of the ears and the dark red ponytail at the back.
41588 The Joker is still the best BrickHeadz set in my opinion but 41586 Batgirl is certainly a worthy purchase. It would have been nice to see some belt printing akin to that on 41585 Batman but the model is thoroughly impressive even without it.

Yeah I'm disappointed they didn't reuse Batman's belt tile.. don't see why they didn't! They also could've put some grey 1x1s on the sides of the front torso to show the greyness. Overall it's not entirely accurate and that's a shame.

Great review! Not one of my favorites, but still a good one.
They're probably not being sold in pairs both to keep the entry point low (much easier to buy a $10 set on impulse and go back for a second than to buy a $20 set on impulse) and to let people pick and choose their favorites. If a person knew they wanted Batman and Batgirl but weren't so eager to get Robin or Joker, then they might think twice about buying a Batman+Joker or Batgirl+Robin co-pack.
Good review! I agree that this is one of the better-looking BrickHeadz, and has some nice parts to boot! It is a bit unusual that her belt is constructed differently than Batman's when the minifigure versions of the characters use the same belt piece, though.
That's an excellent set. Looks like it has lots of great pieces.
Great review thanks, I have to admit I didn't like these at first but i'm really warming up to them! anyone know of these are being released in non Lego stores like toys r us etc anytime in the future?

To me it looks much to plain, the torso could use a bit more detail and I do feel that they should have reused the belt tile from Batman. All in all not something I would spend my money on.

Cannot decide whether good or not.
I like how they do the ears! Ponytail and cape details are nice too.
I really don't like these and don't see much point to them, seems a blatant cash in on the recent success of 'chibi' style characters by the likes of Funko and Quantum Mechanix and compared to those these blockheadz really are awful. Nice parts I suppose but otherwise a horrible line.
