Review: 76067 Tanker Truck Takedown

76067 Tanker Truck Takedown was only revealed in May, after the release of Captain America: Civil War and our first look at the character of Spider-Man as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The airport battle on which this set is based has received universal acclaim and by combining these characters and models with 76051 Super Hero Airport Battle it is possible to recreate the scene almost completely, as advertised in the set description for this set. Alternatively, 76067 Tanker Truck Takedown provides a cheaper alternative to 76051 but still offers enormous play potential thanks to the range of minifigures included.
Minifigures
Tom Holland's exceptional portrayal of Spider-Man was one of my favourite aspects of Captain America: Civil War and this minifigure is equally impressive. The level of detail printed on each element is excellent, with webbed designs on the head, torso and arms. I like the combination of dark blue and red very much, particularly on the legs which are dual-moulded.
We have seen remarkably few different Spider-Man minifigures and this is easily my favourite one yet. I am not particularly keen on the design of the suit in the film but it looks splendid in minifigure form and its accuracy is beyond doubt. Hopefully we will see a similarly detailed comic book version in the near future as this figure makes the present design which has appeared in several other recent sets look rather dull by comparison. Spider-Man is equipped with the new web element.
Vision first appeared in 76032 The Avengers Quinjet City Chase which was released last year and this minifigure is almost identical to the original. His sand green torso and legs look superb in contrast with his unique cape and I like the dark pink highlights too. The material used for the cape is very soft and is slightly shiny which is a nice touch, replicating the mystical nature of his cape in the films.
The Infinity Stone on Vision's forehead was notably the incorrect colour on the 2015 figure but that has been corrected and the yellow Mind Stone appears instead on this occasion. I am glad that the character is now available in a relatively inexpensive set and expect 76067 will prove popular as a result.
This version of Captain America has been seen on numerous occasions since 2015 and is not entirely accurate to the appearance of the character in Captain America: Civil War. However, the detailed head and torso look brilliant which goes some way to make up for the absence of a new design.
This issue seems to plague sets based on the Marvel Cinematic Universe as some minifigures do not receive an appropriate update for each new film which seems a shame to me. Captain America and Black Widow both suffered in the Captain America: Civil War range as the minifigures from Avengers: Age of Ultron were used for a second time but I hope this will be corrected in future so the minifigures are more faithful to their onscreen appearance.
LEGO has released two earlier Hawkeye minifigures and neither was particularly impressive, although they have improved with time. This is definitely the best yet as the design is exceptionally accurate and the level of printed detail is impressive. The purple padding on this uniform is brighter than the purple on Hawkeye's costume in the movie but it looks great nonetheless and I appreciate the attention to detail shown by including one exposed arm, just like in the film.
Hawkeye's head is printed with two different expressions which reflect the personality of the character quite effectively. One side features a smiling expression and the other is angry while his hair is spiky which is somewhat faithful to the movie, although the hair style is exaggerated in LEGO form. As usual, he is equipped with a black compound bow.
The Completed Model
As is often the case with Super Heroes sets, a couple of small models are included to form scenery. This wind sock looks rather nice, with an orange cone at the top and some white and red chequers at the base. The pole on which the wind sock is mounted can be knocked down easily to send a couple of fuel barrels flying.
Each barrel is decorated with the Roxxon Energy Corporation logo on a sticker and some flames are also included to simulate destruction. Roxxon is a substantial corporation in Marvel comics and it has also appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe several times, although not in the exciting airport battle scene from Captain America: Civil War as this set suggests.
A purple motorcycle is included for Hawkeye which recalls the primarily purple vehicles he uses in the comics. This is a simple little model but it looks great and offers some additional play value while also introducing a new colour for the dirt bike fairing which has not appeared in purple before. I like the little sticker used on the front fork cover too.
Vehicles in Super Heroes sets have improved a great deal this year, with a lovely little Jeep included in 76047 Black Panther Pursuit and a nice taxi in 76057 Spider-Man: Web Warriors Ultimate Bridge Battle among others. This tanker truck continues the trend in my opinion as it looks splendid despite being relatively simple in its construction.
The low profile of the cab reflects the design of tankers seen in real airports but there is still room to seat a minifigure inside, although no driver is included. It might have been nice to see a member of airport staff included as a citizen to be rescued but that would not be entirely authentic as the entire airport is evacuated before the battle begins in the movie. The coupling is located right at the back of the tractor unit and allows the hitch to slot in place comfortably while also providing a rigid connection which will not uncouple unless intended.
I like the dark bluish grey and flame yellowish orange colour scheme very much and the light bluish grey accents are also attractive. The Roxxon branding appears once again, just above a knob which is disguised as a small fuel tank. This is rather extrusive and could be replaced with something smaller if you wish but I think it looks fine and I love the function to which it is connected.
Turning the knob will send flames shooting into the air as the roof of the fuel tank explodes, also popping off the dish at the back of the truck in the process. Some trans-orange elements are laid around the base of the three flames which looks great and the reddish brown pieces on the underside of the roof could be viewed as scorched metal.
This is a perfect example of what a play feature should be. It works perfectly and is a lot of fun to use but is also invisible when not in use. The small fuel tank on the side might arouse some suspicion but the model otherwise looks like a fairly standard truck with a splendid colour scheme which would look great as part of a Super Heroes or City display.
Overall
The Marvel Super Heroes range has hardly put a foot wrong this year and that continues with 76067 Tanker Truck Takedown in my opinion. All four minifigures are excellent, particularly Spider-Man, while the Roxxon tanker is an attractive model with a great play feature. I also appreciate the fact that this set includes two characters from each side in the 'civil war' which greatly increases the play value.
Furthermore, the price seems very reasonable, particularly in the US where the price point of $29.99 matches that of 76047 Black Panther Pursuit. The UK price of £34.99 is slightly disappointing given the cost in other countries but I actually think £34.99 is justifiable considering the number of models and minifigures. On the other hand, I think the set would have been even better if Captain America and the small models had been left out, leaving the tanker truck and three minifigures to be sold at about £24.99. Nevertheless, I certainly recommend this set to Super Heroes fans.
We are nearing the end of the Marvel and DC Super Heroes reviews this summer but I am pleased to announce that Brickset will be publishing exclusive reviews of the four BrickHeadz sets in the next couple of weeks!

That Spiderman minifig is grossly overrated tbh.
I agree with Akulla. To me this is one of the ugliest Spiderman minifigures yet. The only reason it's so appreciated is because of the arm and leg printing. Something akin to classic Spiderman, but with full arm and leg printing, would be far superior: http://images-cdn.moviepilot.com/images/c_scale,h_825,w_1200/t_mp_quality/ntvg5yandildcwpcy3li/the-5-spider-man-costumes-we-really-need-to-see-on-the-big-screen-706418.jpg
This set is crazily over-priced for the UK. Will only pick it up if it comes down to around £20 in an Amazon sale.
Great set, and fantastic review! Just ordered mine this morning as part of the Double VIP Point offer one Lego Shop Online this weekend.
Awesome set with Spiderman,New Hawkeye,Vision fixed and Cap
The head for this Spidey doesn't look that great, and Hawkeye's motorbike is a bit needless, but this is a terrific set... although, that truck cab still looks kind of odd.
Is this set a particular store exclusive or is it sold everywhere?
Great review, great pics!
Awesome review. I will have to pick this one up.
Perfect review, as ever. I picked up this set on the 1st and completely agree that it is excellent.
If only cap was replaced with a minifigure scaled ant-man... *sigh*
"Vehicles in Super Heroes sets have improved a great deal this year", like the Scarecrow's combine harvester in set 76054.
@ BrickBomb; Yes agreed!
@TheMisFetts
Yes, the set (in the US) is a retail exclusive to ToysRUs. It is not sold in Lego Brand Stores.
Spiderman looks great i want this set just for the figs!
Ridiculously over priced in the UK.
TLG must have the US and UK prices the wrong way round.
$34.99 US, £29.99 UK ???
I will not be buying this until I can find it at around 50% off.
£17.50.
wish it had AntMan
Plus as others have said the spider man minifig is overrated and looks knockoffish. However I see why some might like it.
My favourite spiderman figure is the iron spider
Which one is yours
Yeah, I'm not really getting the love for this version of Spider-Man, I'm sorry to say. The black lines make it look cluttered and over-designed. And the head looks cheap, like a Chinese knock-off (but a bad one).
OTOH, Vision and Hawkeye look superb.
Does it bother anyone that Hawkeye has the same head as Cap, or is it just me?
Must have!
This isn't a reasonable price in Australia either (surprise surprise). So badly not a $60 set
Also Hawkeye looks like a child
Awesome review. Thanks CapnRex.
@PicnicBasketSam
The truck cab is a fair representation of real-world airport fuel tanker trucks.

My guess is that the AU RRP of both this and the Dr Strange set is higher because they are going to be retailer exclusives (Aussie retailers tend to want higher RRPs on exclusives so that when they have sales they make more profit)
I thought I'd just keep minifigs from this set, but I'm not so sure now.
Spidey is great. Now time to update the comic one.
I was going to say the Spider-man figure is actually one of the better looking versions of him. However, I'm not a huge Spidey fan, so I don't NEED all of them. But this is a welcome difference compared to the unlimited generic versions.
The rest of the figures look great. I'm glad to have a Vision, even though it is different.
i,d buy it just for the four minifigs and hawkeyes scrambler..
For all of those complaining about the US/Rest of the world prices, don't worry...once Toys R Us has the set for a month or so, expect the price to get bumped to $40 or so.
Otherwise, this is a fantastic set. The minifigs are top notch, and the tanker truck is really nice. Worth every penny.
I think that's absolutely the best version of Spiderman so far. I love that Vision is included in this set. The tanker truck looks pretty cool, I like the amount flame yellow pieces involved also, and that it looks like a regular vehicle. Leaving off the "fuel tank" and stickers you'd have a normal looking truck you could use in your city scape. I'm really leaning towards getting this set as I don't have a Spiderman, Cap America, or Vision, and I like the pieces included. Thanks for the review.
Love this version of Spiderman, I wasn't really considering getting the full set but this review showed other interesting features. I might end up buying it after all, I just wish the price was a little bit lower here in Canada.
Needs Ant-man.
