Random set of the day: High Speed Train

Today's random set is 4511 High Speed Train, released during 2003. It's one of 28 World City sets produced that year. It contains 333 pieces and 3 minifigs, and its retail price was US$90/£69.99.
It's owned by 1,738 Brickset members. If you want to add it to your collection you should find it for sale at BrickLink, where new ones sell for around $379.80, or eBay.

So what's it's high speed? And who is that guy in a black suit with a suitcase about to board.

A high speed train on a turn like that? I don't think so!
Not sure if that bulkiness would help with the speed.
Those wedge bricks under the nose kept falling off.

Full 9v package, with power adapter, regulator, leads, 9v track (actually, dark-grey 9v curves aren’t worth more than dark-bley RC curves), 9v motor, short 9v wire, and a light brick.

Nice train but not only you need another one to make it look complete, but also you'll need extra tracks to have reasonable play length. Only round tacks? Come on Lego...
A high speed train trying to take a curve that severe? Don’t see that ending well. Those guys on what we will charitably call the platform might want to seek cover…

There are other similar sets. To keep costs down, you get enough track to form a loop and can purchase extra track if you want a different layout.

The amazing thing about this set is that you were able to buy separately 10157-1: High Speed Train Locomotive and 10158-1: High Speed Train Car - I don't think train set items have been available separately since then.
For those complaining about the curve... you do know that high speed trains slow down when nearing their destination, right? And are you excpecting lego to just make a 3x as big loop because of the type of train? Thereby driving the price up of getting the train itself when track packs existed? Just for 'realism' of a toy version of it?
As for the set... I like World City. City has gotten a bit more distinctive but for the longest time it had a very same-y, safe and a bit boring vibe. Not World City. This train has an FBI agent boarding it for whatever reason. Maybe it's just his commute back home. Or maybe something is afoot. The theme had this dark undertone that made it feel less pedestrian and more gritty than City ever did.

As mentioned above both locomotive and wagons of 4511 could be bough separately. And both 10157 (the locomotive) and 10158 (the wagon) were already random sets of the day

You've also got to take out the auto-inserted spaces around " @N08."
This is probably not the place for my response to the question in the first comment, but I really enjoy the sinister vibe of World City's agents and their creepy van, it's such an odd choice of subject matter.

I loved this set; the first train set with serious "bullet train" vibes. And yes! One of the few (only?) train sets where you could buy extra locomotives or passenger cars without having to buy another whole set! World City also had a small but good selection of related train buildings including that fantastic train shed set, level crossing, etc.
This set was useful for the track power and speed unit, which usually featured in the very expensive sets or on its own so a more affordable solution to also use with the other train sets which did not include this unit if you wanted a change from the high speed loco, although a 3rd end carriage would not have broken the bank.
I remember hating how stingy lego was with track pieces back when this came out. A circle, not even an oval? come on...
It's less than a decade, but there's world of a difference--a World City of difference--between this as a Trains set and the RSotD from two days ago.

Santa Fe had an engine as one set, and two different sets that could be used to build five different cars. My Own Train was based around buying everything piecemeal, so there were two engines (with five separate livery packs), a separate tender, two engines with included tenders, and six different pieces of rolling stock, in addition to more traditional all-inclusive sets that included some of the same models.
