NRG is short for eNeRGy.
QUICK LORE
The Ninja needed to unlock their True Potential to help them in learning their elemental powers
Cole and has dad had been in a strained relationship since Cole's mother died. The Ninja needed a treasure that was a reward for a dancing contest. Cole's dad normally won the trophy each year, but he couldn't compete this year. The other Ninja just wanted to steal the trophy, but when Cole saw how much that upset his dad he decided to win it legit. In the ensuing chaos Cole's dad was almost crushed by falling debris and Cole unlocked his true potential in time to save him.
QUICK LORE!!!
I appreciate LEGO for updating the whole spinning toy trick with new gimmicks, but in my estimation these weighted spinners were the best: low centre of gravity, small friction point, and easy to set the figures in and out. Plus they could be decorated and modified. A lot of the later spinners have only one of these aspects.
Dad, I was seven! It was the Triple Tiger Sashay!

So a dance competition was, at one point, a major plot point in Ninjago? I'm having Guardians of the Galaxy flashbacks...

For one episode. The Fangblade was the topper of the Blade Cup.
@GSR_MataNui: Ah, but not just aaaaaany treasure, a trophy; that as @Endermen39 had stated, had a Fangblade on top (wasn't there more than one). Of course, the highlight for me was the trophy's lore: it was donated but Clutch Powers...to which I went "what a minute...he's still AROUND...:D"
That is generally the point of coal, yes

Nuclear Radiation Generator
Neural Reductive Gel
Newly Refurbished Gi
The NRG spiner sets were the point that these sets beame good. The figs were exclusive and were crackling with metallic printing. Energy style minifigs were rarely done at the time, so these were quite unique. I'm very thankful to own them now. Even NRG Jay, which I had to source parts from from multiple stores across the world including one from Thailand back in 2020. That one shot in value soon after it released. This one and NRG Zane were less hard to come by at the time and even went on clearance, which is how I got this set.
I like the color scheme here, and this scythe design is still fun. And the transparant spinners are the best looking ones!

"NRG! Between you and me! It's a body shock! Electricity!"
NRG, you are profound
You make the ninjas go round and round
You make the ninjas go round
Yesterday was Shogun Go, and now we have Ninja Go!
What's next? Anthropomorphic-animal-warrior Go?
I remember the NRG ninjas with their hoods off being used as superheroes a lot. Zane was Iceman, Kai was the Human Torch, and this one was Sunspot from New Mutants.

There were 4, one hidden in Mega Monster Amusement Park, one in the Fire Temple, and I forgot where the Venomari one is.
It is amazing how much these are worth now. I remember buying loads of the Ninjago spinners for a quid each when John Lewis put them on clearance. It took maybe 3-4 years before it was possible to sell them at the RRP. So it is quite surprising how far they have increased now. I should have held out.
EDIT: My mistake. The ones I bought were all 2011 The Golden Weapons ones, and they are still not worth very much. So I don't feel anywhere near as bad dumping them for RRP when I did.

It's Cole, so Ninja Rocking ground.
Le(go) Beyblades!
Got all four of these when they came out, but wish they’d produced matching minifigs of La-Loyd and Nya. Same for the DX versions (they did a La-Loyd DX, but it has a completely different style).
Those NRG figs are really cool, and in good condition really, really expensive.
The metallic printing on these figs made them look extra fancy.
