This is truly one of my favorites, using the futuristic type of windshield and design. I got 6625 instead which is actually the same design, and it goes so well with 6430 Patrol Police with the same windshield!

I've always loved this cute little set. It has that charm like other small town sets.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Yay! My first set ever :D

Always liked the shape of it, it took me quite some time to realize how unrealistic it actually is, but even then I didn't care.

It even got a pseudo re-release as 6625.

I also liked to build a red version, using the front of 6644. A 1997 christmas diorama even showed a blue recolor, but that's unfortunately not possible without removing prints or hunting for Q-parts.

I always did want 6625. I finally bought it a few years ago. I never got the civilian car to go with that cop car though.

By in Canada,

It’s an AMC Speed Champs set!

Oh yeah, I had a lot of fun with this set. Sure, the use of the canopy piece isn't the most realistic thing Lego's ever done, but I didn't care! Still don't care all that much TBH.

it is a cool set though its annoying when trying to put the mini-figure inside of the car because you literally have to take the top half of the car off and you accidentally might pull the rest of the car off

Nice, clean design. Very contemprary and still relevant I think.

Suddenly TENET makes perfect sense.

By in Brazil,

I always wanted that set as a kid, got it last year. I just love the design a lot, for some reason it always reminds me of the Renault Avantime.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Yeah, this set was the best. Oof, right in the childhood.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Kinda' looks like someone stretched a Smart car.:)

By in Netherlands,

This thing is ferociously ugly. It's almost as if it were designed to be as ugly as possible in order to win some kind of Ugly Trophy, with which it was subsequently smacked in the face. Repeatedly.
It's a unpolished turd. It offends me with its design, and even worse, its existence. Somehow, this abomination was cleared for production, and everyone complicit should be ashamed of themselves.

I still really like it, though. It's as charming as it is ugly (which is to say: quite).

Love this. Had two copies! One gifted me by a friend at school (literally given to me fresh out the box in class one day). I considered it the car that should have been included in 6399.

In terms of what the real life equivalent should be, it’s 100% the Danish-built City El:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/CityEl

Ok, that had 3 wheels not 4, but so what!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

The sport in this case being a “how do I get into my car”-athon?

Gravatar
By in Spain,

A speed champions car with no stickers

I can't believe it

Gravatar
By in Denmark,

Got this for my 12th birthday - and absolutely hated it! As time went by, I actually came to like it, and today my kids loves it

Gravatar
By in Spain,

Blocky and with visible studs just as lego have to be

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

This is ugly AF.....but as a kid I would have loved this just for that canopy piece!
(well, if it had been released a few years earlier, that is...)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

That slopped car bonnet piece with wheel arch was revolutionary - now your cars could look cool rather than boxy

Gravatar
By in Germany,

One of the earlier instances of a classic four wide car without doors.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

I loved this, how futuristic it looked back then... then some other kid stole it from me :(
BTW, today people drive even uglier cars, all those "sport coupé SUVs"...

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

A memorable one amidst a sea of similar Town car designs. Sure, it's a bit quirky, but that's the charm of it. I also like the yellow and trans light blue. Very bright and colorful!
All in all, 90s era designers making good use of the parts that were there to make something new with just one new part (the front bonnet/fender slope).

Gravatar
By in Germany,

It was so MODERN when it was released! Should have nagged my parents more about it...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I had 6625 fairly early in my childhood collection, so this is ringing some nice bells. A personal car in yellow also feels very 90s LEGO.

Compared to other LEGO cars from this era, this one actually looks more appealing to me than most. I was never into LEGO cars, because all of my vehicles were either horse powered or SPACESHIP!!!, but my brother had several of them, including this one, and I kinda dug its futuristic look. It felt so much ahead of its time next to those tiny square boxes LEGO labelled as cars. I can also assure you, there were much uglier toys around in 1990 than this quaint little car. :-)

Gravatar
By in Germany,

It doesn't look particularly sporty, but it does look very late-80s/early-90s.

Considering the fenders, would 600-2 count as four-wide, thus rendering your argument invalid?

Gravatar
By in Spain,

I love this set so much. I don't have it but I know I would have liked it as a kid. It's like the perfect "I need a cheap and ugly everyday car for my City" set.

That type of car doesn't count. Since it doesn't have an interior, it doesn't need doors after all.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Vehicle comments aside. I would hope one would consider the classic Legoland Town System box art here. The very classic Legoland diagonal banner, yellow box border, and an actual staged picture of the model. In addition, the back of the box is sure to contain a few pictures of alternate models for this set, something lacking on current boxes.

no you dont, the top is hinged,...no need to pull anything from anything, just hing-it

Anyway: wonderfull design: simple, effective, sleek, modern,...brilliant.

The alt-build has an 'interior.'

I'm... almost speechless: An alternative model instruction BEFORE c31 in a regular non-Techic or Model Team set! Is it a glitch in the Matrix?

Gravatar
By in United States,

No insult to the set itself, but this seems to be something with which you can order bricks off Bricklink and build this car for much cheaper than the average eBay price for a new (unopened, mint condition) version of this set.

In fact, several, and in several different colors, for about as much as the listed eBay price.

Gravatar
By in France,

I instantly loved this futuristic car, at the time. Only complain : the too high wheel arches, because they put the headlights and front grill between the car plateforme and the slope of the nose.

It was so innovative compared to classic cars.

Then in 1996 we had the 6625 , very similar, but they used a different part for the wheels axle (6157 instead of 4600), and the wheel became lower, but ridiculously too wide (at the time).

Gravatar
By in United States,

It looks like that car came out of the 2000s

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Great aerodynamics before AI suggested curves worked better. For nostalgia you could put the steering wheel at the back and drive it like it was the '80's all over again.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I always thought of this one more like a Geo Metro (fuel efficient but underpowered). It certainly stood out from other small cars of the era.

The relevant comparison would be the average eBay price for a typical used copy of the set in decent condition, not a MISB copy.

Yeah, I would expect *most* sets to cost more for a MISB copy than to scavenge the parts

Not a big fan of town, but I always liked this set.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Back in 1990, this was like looking into the future. I MOCd a red one, that I've still got somewhere.

Gravatar
By in Spain,

I love it!! So many hours playing with it. So many times putting the bagage after the seat!!

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks more Pope-mobile than coupe.
