By in New Zealand,

There is your Rex with Kama!!

Why is no one asking for this style of Kama to come back? Seems better than the partial prints that are complained about.

By in Canada,

There seems to have been a lot of Star Wars random sets of the day lately.
Not that I'm complaining

By in Canada,

Ouf my guys love this set. I also let them play with Rex, but put it away when the value exploded. Now that I have found another one in a cheap bulk bin, I might let them have him back.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Great set. weird that it only came with one clone trooper though. although you could have waited a year for the 8014 clone battle pack to fill it up

Gravatar
By in United States,

Definitely an improvement over the 2003 one, but man, those faces on the minifigures were a hard pill to swallow back in 2008.

And yes, all those teenagers whining about the kama printing on the legs nowadays are real quiet about the plastic version that preceded them. Then again, they were either far too young or not even born at all to remember this first wave of "The Clone Wars" sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hmm, apparently I got this one. I'd given up being SW complete, but for a bit there I did make an earnest attempt to be SW:TCW complete.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I really, really wanted this set as a kid! I had the 2008 Republic Gunship, which it would have paired great with, but I was born a bit late to get into these sets easily. I did have the 2013 AT-TE, but I always preferred the Clone Wars renditions of sets. Eventually I concocted a scheme to sell my 2013 AT-TE and use the cash to buy the 2008 version, and got as far as selling the 2013 one, but then an interest in Technic Lego came in, the money went towards the Mercedes Arocs set, and then the rest of the Star Wars got sold off to fund more Technic!

Gravatar
By in United States,

I got this one as a kid. It also is compatible with 10195 Republic Dropship with AT-OT. You have to move the handle that comes up in the middle down to the second ring, and then the Dropship is able to carry it.

I remember buying a few of the blue STAPs off of ebay back in the day. They were pretty inexpensive because everyone had scads of battle droids. Simple but pretty film accurate.

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

Funny, I was trying to build 4482 just now.

Gave up once I realized I have no choice but to replace the lost Dark Gray and Light Gray parts with bluish ones. Will look messy once I finish it.

I actually like the plastic Kama more than the cloth. If there’s a crease in the cloth one it just doesn’t look right. The plastic ones were near perfect except you could barely move the legs.

Oh my, that's the preliminary I think. Look at the terrible stickers and how poorly Ahsoka's headpiece is painted.

I actually like the plastic over the cloth both for kamas and the chest armor. My only real complaint is that the plastic armor makes Minifigures significantly taller.

Not as good as the original.

For the original had trans Neon Green.

Love this kit. Still have it on display all these years.
Son loved building it with me. One of our early kits together.
Loved all the features. The gaps still bother me in the middle but overall looks good, still great play vehicle, lots of guns, plenty of room for figs, loved the way the cockpit slid out. And the size is right. Nice and big.

Gravatar
By in Japan,

It's a great AT-TE but 75337 has the better build, except the feet where I think this set has the edge.

I like the plastic, especially for those older figs. Moreover, the guns it came with in the plastic pack (visor, rangefinder, helmet light, kama, pauldron, and guns) were fantastic!

For the record, I could abide by printed kamas if they were represented with more than one thin line. That's just a joke.

Also, thanks sooooo much for calling me a kid.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

We REALLY need a remake of this Ahsoka figure!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Honestly I still think this is the best AT-TE; the others just seem...squashed, a bit compacted. Possibly that's just the angles of the art at work, but this one has the proper length I'd expect from a troop-toting turtle tank

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Ty Nostalgiabot spoil yourself tomorrow with some clikits

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Always liked this one. Sure, it was as expensive as they got, but it really does the thing justice. And it was a major improvement over the previous one (although I miss the speeder bay here).

Also, the lack of floor panels to the sides is a shame. There's a great review on Eurobricks on this set that shows it off well.

But thanks to our minifig friend Captain Rex here this set is now just straight up not worth it complete.

This is why I stick to original themes (I love Space). You don't get people spending THAT much on a single figure, driving up the price of a perfectly good set.
(Unless it's Castle, maybe -_-
Or certain Bionicle sets, technically)
And I just like a good tank on legs. It doesn't need to be 'the' AT-TE for me to get that enjoyment.

Prefer the sleeker longer length and lower profile of this set to 75337, although the later is probably more accurate to the screen version.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'd say a bunch of nice things about this set of how it was my first playset scaled AT-TE since I never got the 2003 one, and how great the play features are and everything, except I really can't say that because I almost never played with it. It went on display, and has seldom been moved since because it's attached to a couple baseplates to simulate the battle of Teth. It doesn't go anywhere, and it hasn't changed its location since 2014 when I got the Ewok Village and expanded my battle of Endor setup, forcing me to move it laterally to another spot on the same bookshelf.
These are a couple a very quick photos of my Teth setup: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/320320195665068033/1158688494038818868/IMG_4130.JPG?ex=651d2840&is=651bd6c0&hm=58ba7338507aed9cf3f3b37edd5ac63d5009c1b8eaf006609697193542474bd9&

I pretty much cut a third off the top baseplate. It pains me to reveal that because I'm usually a diehard purist, but it was a necessary loss as one Sith Lord would say. I'm also using some old train wire for the vine that Anakin and Rex are using (although I now remember that Rex is using a tow cable). This setup has pretty much existed since 2009, I really should update it. The feet are attached to the studs of the baseplates, and the top of the baseplate I cut is behind the shelf above, so it's held up with what little base I've added, and the shelf above butting into the beams on the front of the bookshelf. I also have a couple supports down below that used to hover, they were a precaution (not that I expected much from them, if the thing falls, it's probably going to fall all the way, these things won't stop that), but as the set has sagged over the years, I just recently discovered that it is being held up by them, too. So yeah, can't exactly explore the play opportunities when it's pretty much on permanent display. It's not just because of Cody that I did buy 75337 , it's also because I didn't have an AT-TE open to just use should I ever need one for something because you can't really use 75157 for much.

I disagree, actually - this one looks more like an AT------TE to me now the new ones are out. It was an amazing design in its day, and the new ones are clearly just refining the formula, but it's a bit rough around the edges now. I prefer my squat, compacted battle-turtle, which is why I sold this one a couple of years ago. I never had the figs unfortunately so no Rex for me.

Except Stinky. I kept him. Of course.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Have this one. The AT-TE itself hasn’t aged well, but it’s a pretty good rendition. Plus, Captain Rex (even though his face isn’t really accurate)!

Gravatar
By in United States,

This was my childhood dream lego set. I eventually got it in a big yard sale bucket with all the minifigures. Sadly I quickly found out it was the most unplayable lego set I have ever owned. The legs would fall off if you barely touched them. The armor would fall off if you shot it with an old fashioned spring missile like in the Separatist cannon. Sometimes the missile shooting function would jam and the whole front end of the thing would explode. I eventually gave it away to a kid back in 2016 when it was almost impossible to find one.
I really think the 2022 AT-TE is the best minifigure version of the clone tank.

As I pointed out above, I am in complete agreement. The old ones were perfect. I wonder if Lego has completely discontinued the old, Clone Trooper accessory parts pack mold?

The new ones are comically large. They remind me of big metracas (Mexican noise makers).

When talking about the old clone armor, I forgot about the pistols that came in that pack. I don't associate them together because I got the parts from my brother years later. I would assume that Lego has retired that mold since it has been over a decade since that mold was in use. I also miss those light attachments as well.

In regards to how oversized the new pistols are, yes, they are massive. Although the pistols used for Fox in my eyes are really Mandalorian pistols(Westars I believe?). This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think the standard modern pistol is more accurate. It has the right shaping, except that the scope should also be a part of the body of the pistol.

Strange that the graphic designer desaturated all the blueish grey bricks, but didn't do anything about the stickers. They look so purple!

@phantombricks the modern SMG blaster was actually introduced in the original Indiana Jones line. The first Star Wars character to use it was Sabine Wren. It was also used in Ultra Agents, Dimensions, and the Ninjago City Gardens along with a few other themes. In the gardens it was used on the cherry tree at the top.

You mean this semiauto pistol? Originally-originally, it was introduced in the first Batman theme that ran from 2006-2008:

https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=55707eT=C

Coincidentally, it was part of another accessory pack (possibly the first that didn’t come on a sprue). You got the short-barrel semiauto, the tommy gun, the first version of handcuffs, and two different styles of batarang. When the Batman theme was retired in 2008, they didn’t have much use for batarangs for the next three years, so they designed more realistic handcuffs, they made a separate mold for the tommy gun, and they tweaked the semiauto. It got a longer barrel, and some pits at the back of the slide to prevent dimpling. In 2012, when they brought Batman back with DC Superheroes, they made a new mold for the Type I batarang (the one that looks like airplane wings), but left the Type II batarang (that looks like a helicopter rotor) retired.

I just realized they gave Rex a visor. When he actually has the flip down range finder.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@purpledave I meant the first link. I looked on brickset and the first sets that popped up was Indiana Jones, they weren’t used for the clone wars accessory pack. The original ones were less defined (the second link) and were in the Batman accessory packs. This AT-TE has a smaller pistol with a longer barrel introduced in the clone wars accessory packs. I actually have both ones used for Star Wars.

I have to say, personally I prefer the cloth kamas and over the plastic ones, though that might because I feel like they were bulky, and I was younger than I am now, so I probably didn't think about taking them off if they need to sit in a vehicle. I also think they look a little cleaner than the plastic ones, though I'm sure people can refute that point. On the other side, I could see how a person could view the plastic kamas as truer to Lego's brand compared to the cloth one . However, with that being said, I would prefer the plastic kamas or a more complete print if Lego for whatever reason can't do a cloth kama for every character who needs one or would look good with them on

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Endermen39:
But that's what I meant. The semiauto was originally designed for the Batman theme, but it was locked into an accessory pack. Indiana Jones was coming out right when Batman was being retired, so they made a single-design mold to keep the semiauto in production without the batarangs. As long as they were cutting a new mold anyways, they tweaked a few design flaws from the original, but I very much doubt they would have made the long-barrel version for IJ if they hadn't already made the short-barrel version for Batman. Indiana wears a revolver, so I would have expected the Lone Ranger revolver would have been far more likely if they were starting from scratch.

The tommy gun also got a new, single-design mold, but nobody considers that to be a unique version because the original Batman version didn't have such significant flaws. Meanwhile, they can change the structure of a clip and that's only considered a part variant instead of a completely unique part. The Indiana Jones semiauto is basically just a variant of the Batman version.

@Renaissance_Ravensly:
It really depends on how you look at the early development of the minifig and related accessories. Technically, the first capes were plastic (ca. 1984), but they really didn't do much more than cover the back of the torso (and the waistline of the hips). They also weren't compatible with molded armor (ca. 1990) except maybe the Conquistador breastplate (ca. 1996), so it didn't take long until they started making single-hole cloth capes (ca. 1993). Of course, the plastic cape would probably be incompatible with the plastic kama, at least without flexing the former away from the back just a tiny bit.
