R&D Nursery and Tissue Culture Lab Head

Location: Pekanbaru, Riau, Indonesia

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled individual to take on the role of R&D Nursery and Tissue Culture Lab Head, also known as the Program Leader of Forest Improvement. This strategic position is critical in overseeing our R&D Nursery and Tissue Culture labs operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in propagating mother plants of eucalyptus and acacia for establishing trials for the breeding program.

Key Responsibilities:

• R&D Nursery Operations: Manage the R&D Nursery to propagate eucalyptus and acacia mother plants in line with clonal allocation requirements.
• Management of Tissue Culture Labs: Oversee the operations of Tissue Culture labs in Riau and Jambi, ensuring high-quality propagation of mother plants.
• Breeding Program: Knowhow regarding the main steps of a breeding program.
• Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to the team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
• Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Reports To: R&D Regional Head

Requirements:

• Education: Master's degree in forestry or a related field. A PhD is preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years’ post-graduate experience handling nursery production and vegetative propagation of eucalyptus and/or acacia.
• Knowledge: Strong expertise in nursery pest and disease control, nutrition, irrigation, and management of annual forecast production.
• Skills: Excellent communication skills, with fluency in English. Demonstrated leadership abilities and the capacity to work effectively in a team environment.
• Flexibility: Open to expatriate candidates, given the strategic importance and specific expertise required for this role.
