Through innovative tools and technologies, SISTERS is paving the way to decrease food waste by 27.4% and CO2 emissions by 20%. 𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐠𝐫𝐢-𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 🌍🍇 Last year, the European Commission proposed updates to the #marketingstandards for various agri-food products such as fruits, vegetables, honey and eggs. These updates aim to enhance #consumerinformation and reduce #foodwaste. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 🔖 ▪️ 𝐎𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠: Enhanced labelling rules to improve transparency and support local EU production. ▪️ 𝐅𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Exemptions for "ugly" fruits and vegetables to facilitate local sales and reduce waste. ▪️ 𝐏𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬: Simplified labelling to ease food donations and minimise waste. 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 🥤: Updated regulations for fruit juices and jams will offer clearer sugar content labeling and higher fruit content requirements, encouraging healthier choices.
