GET.invest provided a training for the UNESCO-led Joint #SDG Zimbabwe Renewable Energy Fund (ZREF) ⤵️ This week, four GET.invest #FinanceCatalyst advisors introduced a #RenewableEnergy course in #Zimbabwe, where GET.invest designed and prepared customised training materials for the participants in order to support the objectives of the ZREF. Another session will be conducted towards the end of the year. The ZREF programme aims at addressing barriers to #financing in the renewable energy space. This is done by leveraging local financial markets to support investment in clean energy projects, which in turn help to accelerate the achievement of the SDGs in the country. Check out a recent visit to Divine Bamboo, a clean cooking company working with the GET.invest Finance Readiness Support! 🎍   Divine Bamboo is a forestry and energy company deploying commercial models along the #bamboo value chain to promote forest restoration and reduce deforestation through sustainable #cleancooking solutions in the form of bamboo briquettes.   The visit to the company's premises in #Uganda was done by Open Capital, one of the 8️⃣ advisory firms implementing the #FinanceReadiness Support. The purpose was to conduct due diligence on the business’ operations and strategic growth objectives. The consultants also visited the 43-acre plantation in Nandere Parish & the nursery and demo-plantations in Degeya, Luwero.   The Finance Readiness Support was initiated in November 2021 through a pilot phase and fully rolled out earlier this year. Discover how InspiraFarms Cooling is transforming agricultural cold chains across Africa 🧊⤵️ With 30%-50% of crops produced on the continent ending up in landfills due to inadequate cooling, InspiraFarms Cooling set out to significantly reduce #FoodWaste and energy costs. Founded in 2012, the company develops and provides modular and energy-efficient cold rooms and pack-houses for fresh fruit, vegetable, flower and animal protein supply chains across #Africa. Today, clients in over 16 countries are saving on their electricity bills and preserving the quality of their produce while boosting livelihoods and creating more jobs within the cold chain 🌾 Facing challenges to raise finance, including those posed by the Covid-19 pandemic and the launch of their lease-to-own model, the GET.invest #FinanceCatalyst supported InspiraFarms with strategic advisory. This included further development of the lease-to-own model and preparation for investor discussions, as well as financial structuring, fundraising support and transaction advisory later on 💼 As a result of the fundraising efforts, the infrastructure investor InfraCo Africa led a 5m EUR deal to support the roll-out of the lease-to-own model. Thanks to this, InspiraFarms is now able to pilot this model and deploy more cooling assets across target countries in East Africa, as well as Ghana and Zimbabwe. Check out a recent visit to Lanforce Energy, a biogas company working with the GET.invest Finance Readiness Support!   Lanforce Energy is a women-led business that builds fixed dome #biogas digesters. Their services are provided on a pay-as-you-go basis, which helps affordability by all users.   The visit to the company's premises in #Zimbabwe was done by Energy 4 Impact, Mercy Corps #EnergyAccess platform and one of the 8️⃣ advisory firms implementing the #FinanceReadiness Support. The goal was to meet the company's management team and key staff members and to engage with relevant financiers in the framework of the services provided by GET.invest. A field visit was also planned for the advisors to get a broader understanding of Lanforce's products, technologies and target customers.   The Finance Readiness Support was initiated in November 2021 through a pilot phase and fully rolled out earlier this year. This week, GET.invest is participating in the 2nd Ghana-EU Business Forum, which aims at fostering investment in non-traditional value chains under the European Union's #GlobalGateway strategy. In her remarks, Deputy Director General at the European Commission DG for International Partnerships Myriam Ferran mentioned some of the flagship projects made possible by the Ghana-EU partnership, including the construction of a solar plant. She also called for the collaboration of the private sector from both #Ghana and the #EuropeanUnion to support the country's growth and explore further opportunities together. Ms Ferran highlighted the role of the different instruments that the EU can deploy to advance the Africa-EU partnership, such as support to identify global pipeline for investments. As the #TeamEurope One Stop Shop, GET.invest assists clean energy companies and project developers by providing information about & facilitating access to support and financing instruments for green energy in #Africa. Last week, GET.invest, Business Eswatini and the Delegation of the #EuropeanUnion to #Eswatini held a successful private sector training for financiers. The event was attended by 15 participants representing commercial banks, local pension funds and insurance houses. The training was facilitated by GET.invest #FinanceCatalyst advisors Ad Dankers and Michael Feldner & was officially opened by the Head of Trade and Commerce at Business Eswatini, Musa Maseko. The one-day training covered several topics, including a brief overview of #RenewableEnergy technologies as well as an introduction to financial modelling, the GET.invest Finance Catalyst and the #FundingDatabase. GET.invest Eswatini was established in April 2022 with support from the European Union, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands and Austria. 📣 Prospect is looking for IT customer service experts to join its 'Women in Tech / in-country consultant' programme! Prospect aims to build a pool of in-country customer support experts that can advise users of the data platform. The current call is to identify and train a pipeline of up to 10 trainees on the use of Prospect through an all-expenses paid, in-person initial training. Candidates will be supported with paid on-the-job training on onboarding and advising users of the platform. As trained in-country consultants, trainees will be better equipped in setting up their own commercial services around the use of the free and open-source platform #Prospect. This opportunity is a step towards bridging the gender gap in the tech industry and enhancing #EnergyAccess across Africa.
