EGEC Geothermal
Renewable Energy Semiconductor Manufacturing
Renewable power & heat under your feet
About us
Founded in 1998, EGEC, the European Geothermal Energy Council is an international non-profit association located in Renewable Energy House in Brussels, in the heart of the European quarter. EGEC has 180 members from 30 European countries, including private companies, national associations, consultants, research centres, geological surveys, and public authorities. Our aim is to promote the use of geothermal energy. We do this by: • Working with European institutions. Developing a sound policy framework and beneficial financial instruments allows geothermal energy to complete with traditional sources and ensures that the environmental benefits are reflected in economic support for the sector. • Encouraging Research and Development and helping the public at large to access the results, enabling wider exploitation of geothermal resources. • Promoting the geothermal market in Europe as well as the export of European technology, services, and equipment to other parts of the world. • Representing the industries’ interests at all levels of policy making in order to improve business conditions. • Co-operating with national and international geothermal associations, and with any other associations promoting research on and application of renewable energy sources, joining forces to achieve successful development and implementation throughout Europe, and fostering European cooperation.

Understanding geothermal data processing Join us for the second instalment of our video series, which Swiss Geo Energy presents in collaboration with Ad Terra Consultancy. In this episode, Andoni Dominguez, Head of Geosciences at Ad Terra, walks us through the complex process of processing seismic data within the GeoCogen Eclépens project. Andoni discusses how seismic data is transitioned from acquisition to processing. He explains the importance of reducing noise, organising three-dimensional signals, and using well data to calibrate seismic images accurately. These processes are essential for ensuring that our interpretations of the underground formations are as accurate as possible, feeding into our drilling decisions. Subscribe to our Linkedin page to keep up with the latest data interpretation and analysis developments. #GeothermalEnergy #Geophysics #AdTerra #SwissGeoEnergy #EnergyTransition

Glad to have been invited by Hungarian energy Minister Csaba Lantos to speak to the EU's Energy Ministers during the Informal Energy Council in Budapest on 15th and 16th of July this week. During the I. PLENARY SESSION: The role of geothermal energy in the European energy mix, i had the opportunity to outline why geothermal is vital to making our energy transition affordable, inclusive and rapid. Geothermal is the key the energy transition. Geothermal is reliable, local, competitive, and makes the energy transition happen fast. Three elements are required from the European geothermal strategy and its action plan, as called by the EP resolution in January 2024 and in the upcoming council conclusions: 1) EU financial risk guarantees. 2) A new Infrastructure Fund that accelerates investment in grids and heating and cooling networks. 3) The Geothermal Industrial Alliance. More than 200 companies called for an EU geothermal strategy and action plan. Together we will be able to implement robust permitting systems, train workers, maintain made in Europe manufacturing capacity and give every region in Europe a platform for ecologically sustainable growth. 💡 the EGEC Manifesto "https://lnkd.in/ehPVyphv" #GeothermalNOW
