At the invitation of the International Longevity Centre - UK, on July 16, EuropeActive visited Paris for the Going for Gold project's award ceremony, supported by Sanofi. Set against the backdrop of the Paris Olympics, this ceremony celebrated the top-performing countries and territories in promoting healthy ageing 🎉 EuropeActive CEO, Kai Troll, led the second awards ceremony, presenting medals related to healthy ageing and physical activity, and participated in a panel discussion. Kai underscored the vital role of fitness and physical activity in helping people live longer and healthier lives. He stressed the need for a long-term vision focused on prevention to tackle demographic challenges, combat NCDs, and improve quality of life. Kai also highlighted our sector’s efforts to make fitness accessible to all and the urgent need to boost physical activity levels across Europe for better health and wellbeing. Healthy individuals are the cornerstone of thriving societies and robust economies. It was wonderful to reconnect with friends and colleagues from the sector, like Nathalie Schwartz from FranceActive - FNEAPL and David Mazerot from L'Appart Fitness, and to meet new people! 🤝 We look forward to future collaboration opportunities with all stakeholders dedicated to helping people live longer, healthier, and happier lives!

On 2 July, EuropeActive attended a World Health Organization webinar on the ‘Launch of the new global estimates of physical inactivity in adults’. The latest WHO data, now published in the The Lancet Global Health, shows nearly 1/3 adults (1.8 billion) do not meet recommended levels of physical activity - this puts people at risk of NCDs, burdens health systems and affects communities and the economy. If current trends continue, most of the countries will not meet the global target to reduce physical inactivity by 15% by 2030. The key findings demonstrate: - Staggering gender disparity – women are less likely to be active than men; - 60+ older adults are less active; - Levels of physical activity differ among countries’ income levels; - Levels of physical inactivity vary around the world. New report is a wake-up call for more action & investment in policies that help more people to be more active, namely across six action areas: - Focus on women and older adults; - Implement community-wide communication campaigns; - Encourage employer support and promote active workplaces; - Build a stronger workforce; - Align resources with vision; - Strengthen cross-government proititisation. In the webinar, Gauden Galea, Strategic Adviser to the Regional Director, Special Initiative on NCDs and Innovation, recalled that while 25% of adults in the European region are not on track to achieve the 2030 target, there is a glimmer of hope. Looking ahead to the United Nations High-Level Meeting on NCDs in 2025, now is the time to accelerate action on our common commitments. Our sector plays a crucial role in reversing these stats and achieving the 2030 target, reducing NCDs, promoting inclusivity, and building healthier societies. 🔍 Find out more: Lancet Global Health: https://shorturl.at/RWAHq WHO news: https://shorturl.at/8ddIC Find the data here: GHO data https://shorturl.at/MqYmQ #PhysicalActivity #Health #Wellness #NCDs #WHO #GlobalHealth #HealthEquity #ActiveLiving #SustainableHealth #InclusiveHealth #PublicHealth #HealthyCommunities

On 2 July, EuropeActive had the pleasure of attending the conference on the ‘Power of Dialogue to Foster Cross-Sectoral Collaboration - Results from the Dialogical Work Erasmus+ project’ at the European Committee of the Regions. Amidst the fast-paced transformations of our societies and increasing interdependencies among sectors, authorities face challenges in ensuring the inclusivity, efficiency, and sustainability of their interventions. Enhanced cooperation and breaking down silos are crucial to addressing these issues. Hosted by Birgitta Sacrédeus, Member of the Committee of the Region, and Maurizia Rolli, Director of Innovation in Social and Health services of the Emilia Romagna Region, the meeting gathered representatives of local authorities, professionals, civil society organisations and educational experts to discuss how to equip health, social, and other professionals with the necessary skills to foster dialogue among stakeholders and bridge communication gaps. The discussions provided valuable insights for EuropeActive’s own work on the Erasmus+ funded project Healthy Lifestyles for Europe project (HL4EU). During the project’s 30-month duration, EuropeActive and partners will explore and promote cross-sectoral approaches to healthy lifestyles through physical activity. The consortium of leading NGOs is united to collaborate on healthy lifestyle promotion across policies and sectors with the view of tackling NCDs, of improving quality of life and well-being and, of building healthier and more sustainable societies and economies. ✅ Follow HL4EU on LinkedIn for more updates: https://lnkd.in/ejBPEaX2 ✍️ Endorse HL4EU Call for Action on Enabling Cross-Sectoral Approaches to Healthy Lifestyles in Europe: https://lnkd.in/ee4w4N9P

EuropeActive Stands for Women’s Health and Gender Equality We attended the recent Women’s Health event organized by MEP Samira Rafaela and hosted by UN Women Brussels. The "Let’s Talk About Our Bodies" manifesto was unveiled, emphasizing that "If you don’t talk about it (a specific female health condition), it does not exist." The manifesto focuses on four key priorities: 1. Close the Gap in Women’s Health Research: Push for dedicated funding and focus on women’s unique health needs. 2. Secure Bodily Autonomy and Health Rights: Ensure women have access to accurate health information and technologies. 3. Nurture a Representative Health Workforce: Promote sex and gender studies in medical education. 4. Lead and Collaborate: Advocate for a unified EU health strategy and address health disparities. Key Messages: • MEP Samira Rafaela: "Knowing our bodies is a human right." • Commissioner Helena Dalli: "More has to be done in gender mainstreaming to increase female healthcare awareness” • Emma Lok: "We need more research, policy, and funding for women’s health."
