We are pleased to read that one of the accomplishments of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris will be improved cycling infrastructure. 🚴🏽 A total of 60 kilometers of bike paths, ten thousand bike rack spaces, and three thousand additional Vélib' Métropole bikes will enrich the city's mobility ecosystem, connecting all the competition venues. We are delighted to see Paris dedicating more space to cyclists and continuing to set a great example for cycling growth. 📰Read the details of the planned actions in the article: https://lnkd.in/eM9_rNRA #CyclingIndustriesEurope #Cycling #Paris #Paris2024 #Olympics

🚲🎶 Which song makes you want to ride your bike this summer? 🌞Cycling Industries Europe is the united voice for the cycling industries in Europe, so it’s no surprise that our CIE team is passionate about cycling, each in their own unique way. We asked them which song inspires them to get on their bikes and ride. 🚀For CIE CEO Kevin Mayne, it’s all about feeling the joy when watching Anthony Putsch's "King of the World" clip, which takes you on a great cycling trip in the Netherlands: https://lnkd.in/dRfJvnN. His go-to song to get fired up for a ride is the classic hit by Queen, Don't Stop Me Now: https://lnkd.in/duJK4m4 🚴 What song makes you want to jump on your bike and go for a ride? Share your favorites in the comments below! Happy biking this weekend! #CyclingIndustriesEurope #Cycling #CyclingAdvocacy #SustainableTransport

🚨 Could the use of e-bikes become prohibited on trails? 🚨 At IMBA Europe, we are concerned about a proposed change to the Norwegian Motor Traffic Act that for the first time could impact the use of e-bikes, including pedal-assist models outside of traffic environments and cultivated areas. 🚳 ⛰ ⚡ As e-bikes lower barriers to entering the world of cycling and mountain biking, they serve a crucial role in our transition to a fossil-free economy, making trail networks that were otherwise only reachable by car more accessible for everyone. Making cycling less attractive with restrictions could have serious consequences for the climate. We support the efforts of our Norwegian member NOTS to inhibit the passage of this law restricting the free movement of e-bikes in Norway. Great to read about the Dutch research highlighting that there is essentially no political polarization in cycling behavior in the Netherlands: "No matter if one is green, liberal, Christian, or populist, we see a strong mainstream culture of cycling, even across political affiliations." At Cycling Industries Europe, we are engaging in the same conversation at a European level. Cycling can bridge political divides because its wide-ranging benefits create a “win-win” for all political tendencies. Is cycling political? Yes! But if you look at cycling behavior there is basically no political polarization in the Netherlands. No matter green, liberal, Christian, populist - we see a strong mainstream culture of cycling, even across political affiliation. Willem R. Boterman shows his recent research to our participants in Planning the Cycling City. Read about the Dutch case of challenging mainstream cycling culture in Willem's paper "Carrying class and gender: Cargo bikes as symbolic markers" https://lnkd.in/dGgHrSDu
