About us

For urban risk managers wanting to invest in climate resilience and well-being where it matters most, BitaGreen offers a SaaS and data management system to design those blue-green infrastructure scenarios and nature-based solutions that are best for people and nature. While many cities have ad-hoc project on blue-green infrastructure for climate resilience and resident wellbeing, they lack tools to locate, plan and invest at scale. At the same time real estate developer, managers and insurance companies cannot easily engage with the surrounding of their assets when assessing climate proofing. It is BitaGreen’s mission to change this. Our mapping, modelling and monitoring tools allow to analyse multiple impacts of urban blue-green infrastructure and prioritize those projects with highest impact. By showing the distribution of costs and benefits, our tools support the structuring of blended investment with multiple RoI. Our SaaS BGI builder and BGI monitor allows cities to • Map green assurance solutions at different scale, showing the impact of blue-green infrastructure on flood and drought risk, air quality, noise, biodiversity, carbon sequestration and general wellbeing. • Quantitatively assess costs and benefits to create bankable projects for blended investment with high ESG score. • Monitor performance of blue-green infrastructure As a spin-off of Vrije Universiteit Brussel and WEF Uplink Top Innovator, we bring state-of-the-art knowledge on environmental modelling, remote sensing, citizen science, insurance value and impact investment in a tool that meets our users where they are and where we can help them make a difference.

Absolutely agree EU Environment and Climate! 🌍🌡️ Heatwaves are indeed becoming more frequent and intense, and the 𝐔𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 makes cities particularly vulnerable. At BitaGreen, we're committed to enhancing urban resilience through 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 (𝐍𝐁𝐒) and 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞-𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞. For example BitaGreen's BGI Builder. Our BGI Builder is designed to help cities integrate green and blue infrastructure effectively, providing a comprehensive platform to: 🌳 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐬: Increase urban greenery to combat heat and improve air quality. For example, in Sofia, Bulgaria, we're collaborating with the 100KTREEs Project to bring more trees and cooling to the city, significantly impacting the urban heat island effect. 🏢 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐬: Utilize vertical spaces for vegetation, enhancing urban biodiversity and contributing to cooler urban environments. 💧 𝐄𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬: Incorporate water elements to cool urban areas and manage stormwater, reducing flood risks and providing aesthetic and recreational benefits. By leveraging our BGI Builder, cities can create more inclusive, fair, and resilient environments, aligning with the latest EU Science, Research and Innovation report's recommendations. Heatwaves are becoming more frequent and intense due to climate change, and cities are particularly vulnerable due to the 𝐔𝐫𝐛𝐚𝐧 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 (𝐔𝐇𝐈), where urban areas become significantly hotter than their rural surroundings. 🌡️ To combat this, we need to not only rapidly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but increase our cities' resilience. This can be done by implementing green and blue infrastructures, such as planting more trees, promoting green walls and water in public areas, or retrofitting and buildings. These approaches can create more inclusive, fair and resilient cities! 🌳💧 Read more in the latest EU Science, Research and Innovation report 🔽 https://europa.eu/!6TkrTJ #Cities #Infrastrcuture #Climate

The vitality of our cities depends on a sustainable bond with nature. Urban areas must protect natural ecosystems, as cities rely on nature's contributions for functionality. Oceans, for instance, help reduce heat, manage waste, and store carbon dioxide. Urban activities can heavily impact nature, disrupting ecosystems and the resources they provide, which in turn affects city stability. Key drivers of these changes include: 🏗️ Urban expansion 🔄 Resource exploitation 🌡️ Climate change 🏭 Pollution 🐾 Invasive species These lead to ecosystem degradation, affecting essential services. Cities face numerous nature-related risks, from extreme weather events to agricultural loss and new regulations. To mitigate these risks, cities must track their impact on nature, focusing on ecosystem health and species diversity. By committing to a nature-positive transition, cities can boost their resilience and ensure long-term sustainability, securing a thriving future for both people and nature. Repost from: Impact One as the message conveyed is of crucial importance. At BitaGreen, we are committed to helping cities achieve this nature-positive transition. Our solutions focus on designing city-specific policies that increase resilience and health. We offer a geospatial platform that allows local governments and urban planners to identify, prioritize, and design nature-based projects that generate better health outcomes and build resilience. By providing detailed assessments of climate impact and environmental risk, we support informed decision-making that integrates nature-positive investments into urban development. With BitaGreen, cities can not only meet regulatory requirements but also foster a healthier, more sustainable urban environment.
