I'm a husband and father to two boys. I'm an Aerospace Engineer and I work in the Aerospace industry. My roots in Sumner Country trace back over 200 years to the Fairvue and/Cragfront plantations. I grew up outside of Chicago (Joliet), IL; my family part of the great migration north. But 25 years ago my family returned to Nashville, TN. From there I moved around the country for school and ultimately my career in aerospace; until my mother started to suffer from Frontotemporal dementia (Lewy Body's Dementia). That brought me back home, and the opportunity to used that lived experience from four corners of this country to make my community better. As an engineer we always work in team environments; it requires listen, leading on projects and delivering results for the customer or in the case of District 18, delivering results for all of the constituents.

  • Listening to my fellow constituents; on issues such as no school vouchers, no guns in the classroom, reduced class sizes.
  • Managing the growth that has arisen from the continued growth of Middle TN. Addressing the affordable housing issue and creating generational wealth opportunities.
  • Gun Safety on areas most people already agree: expanded background checks, safety storage/lock to reduce stolen firearms, and supporting red flag laws. The recent Supreme Court ruling supports red flag laws.

Early childhood education. TN is ranked 45th in education. There are so many areas we can improve such as PreK3/4, allowing ABA services in the school for those children on the spectrum. Increase pay for teachers to attract more talented educators to the district.

My sister Nicole. She's special needs and mentally challenged, but she's never met a stranger. The openness, kindness and ability to start a conversation with anyone has always been a source of admiration.

The ability to listen to everyone, lead your constituents by being a strong advocate during legislative session and delivering results and information to improve your community.
An elected official MUST be willing and able to work with people from the opposing party. We are all Americans, we live together in the community, we are all people. I truly in the bottom of my heart believe you can find something to agree on, its our job as elected officials to find those areas and deliver results for our constituents.

I know how to network with people, I know how to take the technical and relay it for the laymen/women, and I'm willing to listen to understand, not listen to retort.

Listen to their constituents, be a leader in advocating, and deliver results and information back to the community.

Walter was a good man, a cool guy and worked with everyone to make his constituents happy and the state of Tennessee better.

I worked for a home improvement store called Builder's Square. I had it during my junior and senior year of high school. I kept the job until my family moving back to Nashville.

The Martian. An aerospace engineer, engineering his own survival and escape from Mars. The determination to survive, and the analytical brain to just solve one problem at a time, and then move to the next.

The relationship should be built upon mutual respect and understanding that we are here to do what is best for the people of Tennessee. The governor has to do what's best for the state AND is people. My job as a Senator is to be the voice of the people and insure we are included in any decisions impacting the people of District 18.

Improving education, managing growth, expanding healthcare services and gun safety

Experience at something is always beneficial but its not a requirement; often time skills are transferrable. So if one has leadership skills, communication skills or networking skills, those skills are transferable to any industry.

Yes. Networking and teamwork is how the world works. Nobody succeeds alone. And if you want to deliver success to your constituents (especially when your operating in the legislative minority, for now...) you have to be willing and able to work across the aisle.

My focus is on becoming a Tennessee State Senator. The future is unwritten, I didn't know I would be running for State Senate, until I was...

A constituent told me she reached out to Senator Haile to ask about a recent policy disagreement. She was told by Senator Haile's staff that he's not here to listen to the constituents, he's here to do what's best for the state of Tennessee. She asked the staff to repeat that, and they repeated, Senator Haile is not here to listen to his constituents, he's here to do what's best for the state of Tennessee

Yes; I strongly believe is checks and balances. As we see what happens when power goes unchecked with how the Republican supermajority legislature having been operating and acting to everyone, including Republican voters.

Restore reproductive rights to women. I believe that is most obtainable. Next would be expanding early childhood education to Sumner and Trousdale counties.

Moms Demand Action, Tennessee Families for Vaccines

Education, State and Local Government, Transportation and Safety

Financial transparency is foundational to accountability. And I believe the government at all levels should be accountable to the people.

It would be great for the state of Tennessee. It would give more power to the people to guide the state in the direction they so choose. It eliminates some of the gatekeeping.
