My purpose in joining the city council is to protect and serve my community and ensure that NLV continues to thrive. Before my appointment to the NLV city council, I had no involvement in government and no political background but I knew that the city council is the place where communities can be improved and important decisions are made that affect the lives of residents. I am a mother of 4, and the wife of a small business owner. I hold a double degree in international business and Spanish and a minor in marketing from the University of Reno, NV, and the first Latina to serve on the NLV city council. For over a decade I was a stay-at-home mom learning, observing, being an active participant in our community, and developing a set of skills that make me a great public servant. I utilized our libraries, our local parks, and our recreation center and attended community events so I could learn of resources available to be able to share them with friends and family. I am also a longtime resident of North Las Vegas and I've witnessed the transformation in our community over the past decade. I want to be part of the effort to shape our city into a place where families and businesses can not only survive but thrive and be a voice for the residents in Ward 2.

  • Public safety - Our communities and our streets must be safe. I will work towards ensuring that we have enough trained officers keeping our city safe and that their response time is decreased and that they are patrolling our communities especially at night time as well as improving response time for paramedics, something that is often overlooked. Fostering collaboration with our local law enforcement is key to strengthening communication and improving public safety.
  • Rehabilitating our neighborhoods- Beautifying and improving our communities help us create strong communities. I want to empower residents to know what they can do to improve their neighborhoods and work hard to ensure that more resources are allocated towards ward 2 rehabilitation projects. I will work towards finding solutions to creating visually appealing communities in ward 2.
  • Education- I am a firm believer that education is a powerful driver in development. I am convinced that investing in education can positively impact various aspects of our lives. As a dedicated advocate, I will support initiatives and programs aimed at enhancing the lives of our youth, recognizing that they are the architects of our future.

I am passionate about public safety, homelessness, house affordability, land use, mental health, neighborhood rehabilitation projects, supporting small business owners, economic development, job creation

I look up to both my parents. They are hardworking people, have raised 7 children and sacrificed so much to see us succeed and be good members of society. I hope to be make them proud and always follow their example.

An elected official must be honest, have integrity and have strong moral principles. I believe they must have good communication skills, be willing to listen to feedback from their constituents and they must be willing to collaborate with others, including those with different viewpoints.
