I am married to a wonderful husband of 33 years with 3 beautiful children who have all attended a university. I was born and raised in Chile (South America) learning Spanish as my first language and earning my bachelor degree in business with an emphasis in accounting. I had a prospective internship lined up for me in California after graduating; however, right after graduating I met my now husband and decided to get married instead and then move with him to Venezuela (also in South America). Having immigrated to California 20+ years ago and now a resident of Nevada, I have immersed myself in American culture and made it my top priority to oversee my children’s education over my personal career aspirations. And now I wish to serve the people of Reno by improving the school system and transforming the community for children and their families to thrive again. And as an extroverted and assertive “mama-bear”, I will not be afraid to speak the truth and be a voice for our children, parents, and teachers/staff who feel like they don’t have a voice in the educational system.

  • Improve Academic Standards. Our schools are overwhelmed in toxic environments of indoctrination and social engineering from administrative regulations. For example, read Washoe County’s “Administration Regulation 5161: Gender Identity and Gender Non-Conformity”. Teaching time should be spent more wisely and focused on fundamental academics.
  • Supporting, protecting, retaining, and retraining teachers. We are facing a shortage of teachers due to controversial policies that force teachers to compromise on their moral values. These policies and regulations discourage teachers and staff members and many end up switching or changing careers.
  • Increasing administrative transparency. School board meetings are limiting parents’ voices and provide low transparency about programs and budgets being passed. I also want to know where our tax-payers’ dollars are going and if it’s being stewarded efficiently and honestly.

As a proponent of academic excellence, I believe education must focus on foundational subjects such as math, literature, science, and history. These subjects not only provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the world around them but also equip them with essential skills and knowledge necessary for success in any path they choose. They must also be challenged to think critically, analyze information, solve problems, and communicate effectively, preparing them to navigate the complexities of the modern world. To achieve these goals, it is essential to support educators with the resources and training necessary to deliver high-quality instruction.

Integrity, accountability, competence, and a commitment to public service are critical characteristics of an elected official. The people must trust that they will be honest, transparent, and conduct all actions and decisions in an ethical manner. They must be willing to take responsibility for their actions and address the concerns of their constituents. They must be able to make informed decisions based on evidence and sound reasoning. The welfare of constituents must take priority over any personal or partisan interests.

The Holy Bible because it gives me foundation in life, my moral standards, and where I find my hope and peace.

My strong accent! My first language was Spanish (born in Chile), then I had to learn German, and finally English is my third language.

A School Board of education is a unit of local government that determines the policy, budget, leadership, and administration within a certain district’s public schools. The role is to make decisions about curriculum, school buildings and maintenance, annual budgets and more by consulting with parents, teachers, and the superintendent.

Students, parents, teachers, staff, taxes payers.

Holding hearings and sessions for the community so that they can provide their input about school programs.
