The office has more impact on their lives than the federal government. The citizens should realize the impact of the local government and the judicial system that has control of their lives. They need to be educated about the local government. More people would participate in our local elections if they knew the power of the local government to make changes to their lives.

I think they should be familiar with the political process and be aware of the duties of the office they seek. They should be there for the community that elected them. Remember that they are there to represent and be the invoice of their constituents. They are to work hard to make the changes their constituents seek voting them in to the council seat.

Negotiations skills. Become knowledgeable of the city charter and the city ordinances. Be opened minded. Be willing to work in coordination with other elected officials and community leaders to implement the changes that the community is seeking. There will always be professionals to do the accounting, lawyers to handle the legal documentation. The city manager will be delegated to implement the decisions of the council and the mayor.

I personally don’t know any.

I believe transparency is very important and accountability is essential to running any organization. This deters corruption.
