Jennifer Richards earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Nevada, Reno and a law degree from the Gonzaga University School of Law. Richards' career experience includes working as a lawyer.[1]

I am a lifelong Nevadan and a first-generation college graduate from the University of Nevada, Reno and law school graduate of Gonzaga University School of Law. I have over a decade of experience, the majority of her career has focused on representing older adults and persons with disabilities to protect their civil liberties, the right to live free from abuse and neglect, and housing justice work. As a legal aid lawyer, I have the broad experience of the case types that are handled in Justice Court.
I proudly served as the youngest person to serve as the Chief Elder and Disability Rights Attorney for Nevada. In this function I also served as an Administrative Hearings Officer. I have authored legislation to increase resident rights in long term care and create Nevada's Elder Abuse Fatality Review Teams. I wrote the law requiring all Nevada courthouses to contain lactation rooms, further solidifying my dedication to increasing inclusivity and access to our courts. Currently, I serve as standing member of the Nevada Supreme Court Access to Justice Commission and the Nevada Supreme Court Guardianship Commission.
Mrs. Richards regularly volunteers and has received Pro Bono Volunteer of the Year and other local and national awards. She continues to be active in the community and lives in Reno with her rescue dog, husband and two small children.

- In my career, I have worked on every side of the law - judicial, defense, prosecution, civil, and drafting legislation. I have experience on all sides of the issues that bring our community to Reno Justice Court. This understanding provides me with a balanced perspective.
- I will continue to champion a community centered court that responds to the needs of our citizens.
I have been incredibly proud during my career to fight for access and inclusion of marginalized and underserved populations in our community. I am passionate about increasing access to justice and expanding opportunities at the Reno Justice Court.
My first job was in food service at the age of 15. I worked all throughout high school and then had multiple jobs during college to pay my tuition.
Justice Courts are the touchstone of our legal system in Nevada. Most citizens will interact with our Justice Courts during their lifetime. I am running for this seat because Reno deserves a Judge who is energetically dedicated to serving this community, understands this community, listens to the citizens and provides compassionate access to justice. Judges can exercise great discretion and can make a real difference in times of crisis and need. I know firsthand the effects of substance use and mental health in our communities. As civil cases outpace criminal law cases, we need a judge with legal aid experience and civil law experience.
I am proud of my career in public service and look forwarding to continuing to serve our community.
