Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference is set to happen in just a few short weeks, and now we’re learning a bit more about what the company has in store for the conference, specifically its announcements involving artificial intelligence.

AI has long been rumored to be a focal point, with Apple expected to announce several AI features for its upcoming iOS 18 operating system. According to Bloomberg, Apple will focus its AI efforts on creating tools that regular consumers can use in their daily lives.

The focus of Apple’s AI efforts is reportedly a strategy called “Project Greymatter,” which is a set of AI tools Apple plans to integrate into apps people already regularly use such as Safari, Photos, and Notes.

Some of the features in the works are tools that might transcribe voice memos and retouch photos. Much of Apple’s AI features are expected to be handled directly on the device, be it a Mac or iPhone, which will allow the AI to run faster and be more secure.

Additional AI features expected with the announcement include a feature to suggest replies to emails and text messages and an upgrade to Siri that will allow the assistant to provide more natural-sounding interactions.

One unique AI feature Apple is expected to announce brings AI to emojis. Specifically, the feature will create emojis on the fly based on what a user is texting about.

Apple has also reportedly struck a deal with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT to the iPhone.

Of course, all of this is just rumor and speculation at this point. We'll find out for sure what Apple's plans are during its Worldwide Developers Conference on June 10.
