The University of Technology Sydney Biomedical Engineering Society (Biomed Soc) is the student representative body for UTS Biomedical Engineering students. Biomed Soc aims to be used to make meaningful connections between students and industry. Providing students with opportunities to improve their skills and supporting them to reach their goals. Biomed Soc works with industry professionals to promote career opportunities and internships.

  • ✨Meet the Panelists✨ With Thursday just around the corner, we are excited to introduce our panelists for the evening… Georgia Kirkpatrick-Jones Georgia studied Biomedical Engineering, did her second internship in the Defence Industry and currently works at Qantas as a PowerPlant Engineer.👷♀️ As an ex-president herself, she has helped Aerospace Society launch spaghetti into space with NOVA 96.9. And during all of this she worked with a breast cancer clinician and published a paper on the use of Al in the early detection of breast cancer in her second year at UTS. Stephanie Weiss Starting Arula in 2019, Steph has been working hard the past few years. She shares that finding her internship was a matter of meeting the right person at the right time. Dr Stephen Vasilescu Founder and CEO of NeoGenix, Dr. Steven has done a lot! 🧑🔬In his words: Our AI at NeoGenix helping treat severe male infertility recently saved a couple’s IVF cycle by finding super rare sperm🧬. Now our business is navigating the startup hurdles of fundraising and regulatory approval for medical devices. I also played tennis for NSW and used to run a tennis coaching business. 🎾 Liam Bucan Starting out working in a software group to build a X-ray cloud system 🩻. Liam now works at nanosonics to develop new machines. 🤖 Sabrina Zeng In her final year at UTS and positioned at Northern Sydney Local Health District 🏥, Sabrina shares to say yes to every opportunity that comes your way! Callum Kilbane As a final year student currently at Cochlear🦻 titled with Student Systems Engineer, he wants to share this bit of advice for everyone: People who have secured internships/grad roles have been rejected many times! don’t feel discouraged if you’ve been denied a role that you wanted.
