We're proud to be a founding partner of Cargill's SustainConnect™ program, which aims to enhance the production of sustainable canola oil in Australia. The program equips participating farmers with essential tools, resources, and market access, supporting the transition toward sustainable agriculture. Additionally, it opens new revenue streams for Australian growers and caters to rising demand from both domestic and international customers.      Collaborations across supply chain partners play a crucial role in achieving sustainability goals and delivering lasting benefits to farming communities. As a responsible food company, The Arnott’s Group recognizes the need to protect the land on which they rely by sourcing their ingredients sustainably.      “Our collaboration with Cargill is a meaningful step towards creating a more resilient and sustainably conscious supply chain in Australia. Our intention is that as the program continues to grow and evolve, that it provides a step change for the industry,” said Simon Lowden, Arnott’s Group Chief Transformation Officer.  Tom Vicars Simon Gelling Tessa Lees

At The Arnott’s Group, we're harnessing the power of technology to propel our sustainability goals forward. We believe that smart, technology-driven solutions are key to making more sustainable decisions, both for our business and the planet. We recently adopted a technology-first approach and became the first business in Australia and New Zealand to partner with Microsoft to deploy its Microsoft Sustainability Manager solution. The tool helps us to collate data and visualise a comprehensive picture of our emissions footprint. Having a baseline picture of our emissions profile is a major step in being able to measure, set targets and take the right actions, in collaboration with our partners, to reduce our overall emissions. Our next step will be to review and have our emissions reductions targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative, and we will, of course, continue our investment in renewables across our manufacturing sites. Our choices show who we are as a business, our values and what we stand for. In FY23, we continued to progress towards our targets to strengthen our connection with communities and our people by promoting inclusion and belonging. We are delighted to share the success of our pilot numeracy and literacy program, a testament to our commitment to empowering our employees. This initiative, run in partnership with Upskills NZ, was designed for 14 members of our manufacturing team in Auckland, New Zealand, who speak English as a second language. The program's aim was to bolster their language skills, enhancing their ability to communicate effectively and engage more fully in their work and community. This program is more than just about language skills; it's about fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where every member of our team can grow and thrive. At The Arnott’s Group, our commitment to sustainability is deeply rooted in every aspect of our operations, including how we source our ingredients. We're delighted to highlight our partnership with Allied Pinnacle who play a crucial role in supporting us and growers. Our partnership focuses on working with Australian soft wheat farmers to adopt sustainable and low-emission farming practices. In 2022, we made significant strides by working alongside 10 soft wheat growers. This effort covered 46 paddocks and 1417 hectares, gathering crucial data on farming emissions. Our joint effort with Allied Pinnacle extends beyond sourcing. We're committed to supporting growers trial innovative farming practices, like using slow-release urea fertilizers. These practices aim to improve soil health and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, without impacting crop yield. Our partnership is a testament to our belief that collective action is crucial to drive positive environmental change. It also enables us to continue sharing delicious moments with consumers across the world. We are delighted to announce our partnership with PACO INDUSTRIES and UNSW to support the future of recycled packaging. The progressive collaboration, backed by FP Paradigm Pty Ltd and Future Food Systems works with the UNSW Chemical Engineering department to address the challenges associated with post-consumer plastic waste and re-use of PET packaging. Simon Lowden, The Arnott's Group Chief Transformation Officer shares "Working with Paco Industries and UNSW reflects our commitment as a business to go beyond our sustainability commitments and find innovative solutions so that The Arnott’s Group can continue to create delicious moments, not just for our consumers, but for our value chain.” Aligned with the principles of the circular economy, the partnership bolsters our commitment to having 100% of our packaging made from materials that are capable of being recycled, having already achieved 98% (by weight) / 85% (by SKU) of packaging used by our Australian operations now being reusable, recyclable or compostable.  PACO INDUSTRIES is currently developing an innovative approach focusing on organic solvent technology for recycling. Paco’s technology is based on using organic solvents that can isolate PET (Polyethylene terephthalate) and has the potential to turn contaminated post-consumer PET waste back into food-grade PET for the food and beverage industry. The solvent can break down the plastic into its primary chemical chain and be purified into a high-purity ‘virgin-like’ material, creating an ongoing recycling solution. Through this partnership, The Arnott’s Group is supporting a future where environmental stewardship and technological innovation converge.
