At Mirvac, our NAIDOC week events provide us with an opportunity to honour and celebrate the remarkable history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. In collaboration with Indigenous owned businesses, social enterprises, artists, performers, community members and customers, we’ll be holding a range of activities at our residential communities, offices and retail centres. Keep The Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud is this year’s theme and serves as a reminder for us all to honour the enduring strength and vitality of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments and reflect on our combined histories. From a Boomali Gallery Pop-up at Broadway Shopping Centre in Sydney to Rachael Sarra's digital artwork display at Heritage Lanes in Brisbane, join us in celebrating the spirit of NAIDOC. #NAIDOCWeek #BlakLoudProud #NAIDOC2024

The Parabol Playground at NINE by Mirvac is officially open to the public! Member for Willoughby Tim James, Willoughby Council Mayor Tanya Taylor, Mirvac’s General Manager, National Planning and Delivery Toby Long and Mirvac’s Assistant Development Manager Zara Stanley cut the ribbon in front of residents and the wider community on Saturday. Based in Willoughby on Sydney’s lower north shore, NINE by Mirvac is the site of the former Channel Nine broadcast studios. A section of the 233m high transmission tower, which once beamed Australia’s favourite television shows, now forms the centrepiece of the playground. The repurposed transmission tower supports new play equipment featuring a tube and toddler slide, fire pole and climbing nets. At NINE by Mirvac, we are creating a residential community with a mix of one, two and three bedroom apartments and 6,500sqm of open space including gardens, parks, and landscaped walkways. Mirvac is proud to share that the Locomotive Workshop in South Eveleigh has been announced as the winner of the 2024 Urban Taskforce, Adaptive Reuse Development Award. Announced each year by the Urban Taskforce, the Adaptive Reuse Development Award has recognised Mirvac’s efforts to maintain the original character of the workshop, while allowing modern work and retail spaces to flourish. The adaptive reuse of the Locomotive Workshop at South Eveleigh is one of our most prized and recognised buildings, with the thriving workplace today a celebration of the 100 years+ history of the former Eveleigh Railway Workshop, once home to Sydney’s industrial workforce and economic trade. The careful work from our Mirvac Design team, Curio Projects, Sissons Architects and Buchan preserves, accentuates and emphasises the exceptional cultural and aesthetic heritage values of the building, honouring its original integrity, spaces, façade, and the machinery, artwork and stories of those who lived and worked at the site. Congratulations to the Locomotive Workshop team!

Last week, our project team behind The Langlee in Sydney’s eastern suburbs received the prestigious excellence in building award for residential projects at the Australian Institute of Building (AIB) Awards Night, in recognition of their commitment to innovation and excellence, setting a benchmark for others to follow. Mirvac together with the Easts Group Sydney Roosters transformed the former Waverley Bowling Club into a new lifestyle and residential precinct featuring 55 luxury apartments, a contemporary hospitality venue, bowling greens and community hub. “When we partnered with the Easts Group, we wanted to create an amenity-rich lifestyle for the over 55s that offered the best blend of both convenience and comfort, which we have delivered in The Langlee. On top of that, we set out to create a premium destination in the east that the community can enjoy – for bowls, a family meal or a coffee with friends - with Waverley Greens.” - Stuart Penklis, Mirvac’s CEO Development. Congratulations to the team on this award, a testament to their hard work in achieving a shared vision with Easts Group and delivering something truly special in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Earlier this year in celebration of PRIDE, we commissioned artist, Shannon Novak, to create pieces of art for the lobbies of our office and commercial assets around the country. The collection, titled Aglow, is a visual representation of Mirvac’s commitment to celebrate and provide safe spaces for the LGBTQI+ community. The installation of the Aglow collection is now complete, having been admired across Mirvac offices in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. A total of 19 pieces of artwork from Shannon have been displayed to celebrate PRIDE this year. Shannon’s meaningful artwork was admired by many, with the bright colours and unique shapes interweaving to create a strong, multi-faceted, and striking collection that brings life into otherwise plain glass panels.
