    💎 Do you routinely use diamond deload taping for lateral elbow pain? 🩹 This study by Mehta et al, (2020) investigated the effects of this taping technique on pain (VAS), grip strength (pounds) and functional (Tennis Elbow Functional Scale - TEFS) 🧍♀️ 16 participants took part in the study, of which 75% were female (mean age: 39.75 yrs) and all of which were desk workers ✅ Inclusion criteria: lateral elbow pain for >1 week, positive Cozen's test and positive Mill's test ⏳ Mean duration of pain among participants was 21.5 weeks 📐 The outcome measures were assessed at baseline (pre-taping), immediately after taping, 30 mins after taping and 8 hours after taping (see graphs for measurements) 🤕 Pain (VAS) - pain consistently reduced across all time points, but statistically significant improvements were only found between baseline-30 minutes after taping and baseline-8 hours after taping 💪 Grip Strength (lbs) - slightly dropped immediately after taping, but then increased across the next two time points. Statistically significant improvements were found between baseline-30 minutes after taping and baseline-8 hours after taping 📈 Function (TEFS) - functional status consistently improved across all time points, with statistically significant improvements found between baseline-30 minutes after taping, baseline-8 hours after taping and 30 minutes after taping-8 hours after taping 🤷♀️ What does this all mean?? 🤩 These results suggest that diamond taping may be a useful strategy to reduce pain, and improve strength and function in desk workers 🙌 Given that 8 hours is a standard working day, the authors also suggest that this treatment could reduce the number of working days lost due to lateral elbow pain 📖 Read the full text: https://lnkd.in/gTYSKW8r 🚀 Take it to the next level by watching the new Lateral Elbow Pain Masterclass by Leanne Bisset & Brooke Coombes 🔗 Only at www.learn.physio
