Do you have a huge amount of parameters in your Grasshopper definition? Are the users, or even you 🙊, lost with so many options? 😖 When a model requires many or an unknown number of parameters to control a Grasshopper definition, at ShapeDiver we have always used and recommended JSON objects to manage the data. However, the JSON format is not well known by many Grasshopper users, and it is not a user-friendly input 😕. Therefore, it normally needs to be connected to an interface that programmatically creates this JSON object in the background and sends the data to Grasshopper. 🤔 Is there an easier way to manage a lot of parameters? Now there is, and it is our latest flagship feature called App Builder! 🎉 With it, Grasshopper users can now create apps in which the interface reacts to the given input, changing which parameters are shown and where. This helps with the user experience by showing just what is relevant in the specific configuration and avoiding getting lost in dozens of inputs. The best thing is that to make this work, you only need your Grasshopper skills, no web development or custom code is required! 🥳 🎥 In the video below, I show an app that analyzes a typical neighborhood in Barcelona. Each block in this neighborhood has 17 parameters, and we are analyzing 9 blocks, for a total of 153 parameters 😱. Can you imagine showing all of those parameters at the same time? 🙈 The experience would be awful, as the user would have to manually search for the relevant parameters. Instead, we can create logic directly in Grasshopper that will help guide the user while using this app. 👉 If you want to test this app, create a free ShapeDiver account and get automatic access to it: https://lnkd.in/esnJJyF7 🤔 Do you want to learn more about the new features of the App Builder? Join me and my colleague Mathieu Huard next Tuesday, July 9th during a live webinar in collaboration with Food4Rhino. We will give a tour of the current App Builder features and the many to come. 👉 Learn more and register: https://lnkd.in/e4azqt5w #rhino3d #grasshopp3d #grasshopper #parametricdesign #aec #designtoproduction #nocode #food4rhino #rhino

🦗 Build a design-to-production web app with a single Grasshopper file 🦗 Bringing #Grasshopper to the web also means leveraging the many tools and plugins the Grasshopper community has contributed over the years. All those tools are now so many precious bricks to build stand-alone, complex web applications! In the example below, I use several Grasshopper plugins to process geometry efficiently, the #OpenNest plugin to create production files, the #Squid plugin to draw the results as bitmap files, and the ShapeDiver plugin's new #AppBuilder components to organize the interface and include visualization of all types of outputs, from data to exported bitmap files. Edwin and I will give a tour of the current App Builder features and the many ones to come next week during a food4Rhino webinar organized by McNeel Europe. 👉 Join here if you want to learn more and start building #nocode, Grasshopper-powered web applications: https://lnkd.in/d9bbUTrE #rhino3d #grasshopp3d #parametricdesign #aec #designtoproduction

If you want to become a #Grasshopper expert, you need to learn from the best in the industry. Edwin Hernandez from ShapeDiver knows everything about script optimization and how to work properly with meshes. Meshes are still my Achilles' heel, so I follow all his posts on LinkedIn, and I've learned a lot so far. On the ShapeDiver YouTube channel, you can find many useful videos with practical advice on how to export PDF files and generate technical drawings from GH, optimize Grasshopper scripts, and use JSON objects. Keep up the great work, Edwin! #ParametricDesign #computationaldesign

Coordination is crucial in the early phases of the project! I've developed a parametric tool that lets users change the types, sizes, and locations of structural and MEP elements, visualize the solution, and see the clear height. Instead of sharing a Grasshopper canvas, I used ShapeDiver to create a user-friendly interface. ShapeDiver allows you to build UIs for both complex scripts and simple tools like this one, making them more intuitive. As I demonstrated in the video, once you get familiar with the method, it's very easy to use. 😊 #computationaldesign #rhino #grasshopper

I'll attend the NXT BLD and NXT DEV conferences at the QEII Centre in London this week. NXT BLD on Tuesday focuses on "BIM 2.0 and beyond", while NXT DEV on Wednesday while the topic of NXT DEV is "Shaping the future of AEC software development." On Wednesday, I'll give a 20-minute talk where I'll demo some of ShapeDiver's newest features and give the audience an idea of how easy it is for architects and engineers to build no-code web applications with #grasshopper3d and our platform. If you are also attending, find me at stand 22 on the second floor to chat! I'll be happy to demo whatever interests you and would love to learn what additional features you want to see for ShapeDiver! Feature Alert 🎉 The Drawing Tools have been released to the ShapeDiver Viewer API✏ It finally happened! The API version of the Drawing Tools has been released! This means that all ShapeDiver users with API access can already start using the Drawing Tools. For all other users, we will make that possible as well (also as a no-code option with AppBuilder). Stay tuned as we will update you on that in the next weeks! Although this is only a Beta version, we tried to add all the functionality needed to create drawings and work with them in ShapeDiver. This tool allows you to either start drawing from scratch or manipulate existing points or lines. Depending on your needs, you can set restrictions, such as limiting the number of points, defining the placement area, and specifying selectable points. There are a lot of use cases for this tool, therefore, we tried to create many options to tailor everything to your needs. Please have a look at the API documentation, which is linked below, to see all the options. In this video, I show the use case of drawing on a mesh and using the resulting line as an input for a building in Grasshopper. You can also try this example out yourself; it is linked below! While in the video I start drawing from scratch, you can also edit existing points and lines, as shown in the linked example below. In that improved tower example that you might have seen in my last post, you can also use grid snapping (by pressing "g" while moving a point) and angular snapping (by pressing "a" while moving a point). Have you tried it out? What are your thoughts on this tool? What features are still missing? Let us know! 🌐 Stilt House Example: https://lnkd.in/dd7NWSXN Tower Example: https://lnkd.in/dhgkuaxq API documentation: https://lnkd.in/dq6KG7ZF Help Desk: https://lnkd.in/dqV6Q2ZM #ShapeDiver #grasshopper3d #rhino3d #AEC #computationaldesign #parametricdesign #parametricarchitecture

I had a wonderful time last week at the UCODE 2024 conference in Rotterdam, organized by the great team of VIKTOR. It was their first live event after a successful online iteration last year, and I have to say their team's performance was truly impressive - congratulations! Being invited to speak and serve as a judge for the accompanying hackathon was a true honor. The conference focused on how technology can help solve today's engineering challenges. One important one, highlighted by Peter Madlener in his keynote, is the shortage of skilled engineers, which is about to get worse in the coming years. Key to solving it is becoming more efficient through automation, and a common thread I saw in the presentations was that innovative companies are doing amazing work building their own tailored solutions, combining low-code development tools like VIKTOR or ShapeDiver with AI models trained for their specific use cases. For example, Richa Banotra and Daniel Alejandro Yañez of McDermott International, Ltd showed a VIKTOR app running a custom AI model to analyze a specific type of technical drawing. Jeroen Janssen of CORE studio at Thornton Tomasetti showcased #grasshopper3d models run on ShapeDiver utilizing their own AI model to do structural sizing and other analysis tasks. I used my time to share some of the motivation behind founding ShapeDiver, some of the exciting applications we have seen in our work, and the role we believe parametric models can play in this transition. Congratulations as well to all the hackathon teams that delivered truly impressive results. I'm sure the VIKTOR team will highlight them in the coming days. I'm especially glad that one project again showed the potential for combining the strengths of VIKTOR and ShapeDiver to create innovative workflows. Many thanks to everyone who made this such a pleasant experience - Peter Madlener, Stijn Jansen, Roberta Romeri, Ruben Egbers, Sylvain van der Meer, Marcel Slootweg, Wichert Kooloos, and, of course, Wouter Riedijk who unfortunately missed his great event because he was out sick. I'm looking forward to the next UCODE! #originstory #automation #parametricdesign #nocode #lowcode #collaboration #rotterdam #python
