Dane Samilo, Ph.D., (he/him), is currently a senior science policy analyst supporting the Department of Defense in the Science and Technology Workforce office, which covers recruitment, retention and promotion policy for the federal STEM workforce. Samilo also serves as a board member for Out to Innovate, an LGBTQ+ organization for STEM professionals. Previously, he was a AAAS Science and Technology Policy fellow in the same office working on STEM education policy. He received his doctorate in immunology and microbial pathogenesis from Weill Cornell Medicine and his bachelor's degree in biology from the University of California, San Diego.
