State of Kentucky provides information about growth resources to local small businesses

Nearly two dozen small businesses took part Monday in a meeting designed to help assist small business growth in Ashland, Kentucky.

ASHLAND, Ky. (WSAZ) - Nearly two dozen small businesses took part Monday in a meeting designed to help assist small business growth in Ashland.

The City of Ashland Economic Development Department partnered with the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development, teaching business owners in the area about tax credits for growing a business, creating jobs and exporting goods and services.

Ervena Howard-Kiser owns Advantage Plus Realty, and used the advice to learn about assistance like the Kentucky Small Business Tax Credit which can lead to $25,000 in tax credits for qualifying businesses.

“I’m also looking at expanding and I purchased a building in Ashland, and learned about all the economic development that is offered to us here,” Howard Kiser said.

Some other available resources include Collateral Support, and Kentucky Selling Farmer Tax Credits.
