POWELL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - A plot to smuggle drugs into a Kentucky jail has been broken up.

Officials in Eastern Kentucky say they uncovered a plan to smuggle drugs into the Powell County Detention Center.

The jail says Rex White of Louisville has been an inmate at the facility since 2023. We’re told White and an outside accomplice tried to sneak drugs into the jail via the transfer section.

Officials say the jailer found out about the scheme and contacted local and state law enforcement. The accomplice was arrested after a traffic stop on the Mountain Parkway.

Antwan Earsery of Danville is now charged with drug trafficking and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
