CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - It’s the last day of the Charleston Sternwheel Regatta, and that means all the fun is winding down.

Some vendors like DJ Hale, the co-owner of Sweet as Hale Freeze Dried Treats out of Catlettsburg, wish the week wasn’t over.

“It’s amazing here honestly. The people is probably the most shocking to me. I mean everybody promotes small businesses... and like the people next to us and everybody promoting each other, it’s very rare to see a lot honestly and so for me the most surprising besides the enormous crowd you all have has been the support that the people do around here, it’s really impressive,” Hale said.

Hale said the past week has been a lot of fun from listening to the music and meeting new people.

The owner of Nellita’s Cocina has been selling at the regatta for the past few years. She came back again this year and said, “business has been great! Been out here making everybody happy with these empanadas! These delicious empanadas!”

She also said the people at the regatta have been supportive. “Great food, great people, great weather, great music, great support. Everybody has been just awesome, great weather, It’s been just awesome, awesome, awesome, to be able to share my culture out here with you guys at West Virginia.”

Nellita says she hopes this isn’t her last year selling at the regatta as she’s already looking forward to next year.
