VINTON COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) - A man from Vinton County was sentenced to two life prison sentences, plus 10 years, for raping children under age 10 for several years.

The Vinton County Prosecutor’s Office said David Longworth, who’s in his late 40s, was sentenced Wednesday on an 18-count conviction.

In addition to being sentenced for the rapes, Longworth was sentenced for multiple counts of gross sexual imposition.

Longworth was convicted during a jury trial in late February in Vinton County Common Pleas Court.

Vinton County Prosecutor William Archer Jr. released the following statement, in part: “These young victims have patiently awaited justice that they rightly received today with the issuance of this sentence, and hopefully will allow them to continue a healing journey. The sentence reflects the severity of the crimes which they endure for several years at the hands of a man that should have protected them, not victimized them in such a horrific manner.”
