MU alumni squad is getting ready for 1st round TBT game

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - The Basketball Tournament announced their field of 64 Wednesday morning with some local teams travelling well within their home campuses. The Marshall alumni team will be playing in Lexington beginning July 19th as they are the number one seed in the region. They’ll be taking on number eight seed Jackson TN Boom with a tip time of 3 p.m. Last summer, Herd That made it all the way to the tournaments’ final four and lost in the semi-finals.

The University of Kentucky is fielding a team in the TBT for the first time ever this summer and they are called La Familia. They are the number two seed and host the 305 Ballers who are a team out of Miami, Florida at 8 p.m. also on July 19th.

The WVU alumni team is taking the short drive north to Pittsburgh for their first round game which is on July 20th. They are the number three seed in the region and are taking on number six seed Brotherly Love. The game starts at 3 p.m.

Ohio States’ alumni team are driving west to the Dayton region and are playing July 20th against a team called the Purple Hearts on July 20th with a 7 p.m. tipoff.

The Basketball Tournament final four and championship games are once again in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
