Coal Cats and Dirty Birds win on Sunday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - The Tri-State Coal Cats and Charleston Dirty Birds ended the weekend on a positive note with wins at home. The Coal Cats used a four run bottom of the second inning to help them hold off Burlington 8-5 and improve to 7-9 in the Appalachian League. That record is good for fourth place in the Eastern Division of the league. The Coal Cats are on the road to start the week and next play at Jack Cook Field this coming Saturday.

Charleston also used a four run bottom of the fourth to edge Gastonia 5-4 as the Dirty Birds are now 27-26. They are off Monday then host the Lexington Legends beginning Tuesday. Here are the highlights from both games.
