BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. (WSAZ) - About two years ago, Bobby May, a teacher at Barboursville Elementary School, had an idea.

He wanted to create a performance group made up of Barboursville Elementary students to sing together as a team.

Now, the group (called the pirate crew) consists of about 85 students. May has led them to cross-state victories in elementary choir competitions.

He designed the group to include students who loved music or wanted to participate in a competitive group that was not sports related.
