W.Va. native, former MU player introduced as new head men’s basketball coach

Marshall University held a ceremony on Wednesday to introduce the university’s new head men’s basketball coach.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Marshall University held a ceremony on Wednesday to introduce the university’s new head men’s basketball coach.

While introducing the Oak Hill, West Virginia, native Cornelius “Corny” Jackson, Marshall President Brad D. Smith said, “All of herd nation stands with you and will be packing this arena cheering you on.”

While at the podium, new head men’s basketball coach, Cornelius Jackson, got emotional speaking about his new role.

Jackson is a former Marshall basketball player and told the crowd this job is “a dream come true.”

“This is a moment I’ve dreamed of since I was a 19-year-old kid sitting in Twin Towers East,” said Jackson.

Jackson thanked former MU men’s basketball coach Dan D’Antoni.

“Thanks for believing in me and trusting me,” said Jackson. “Your legacy will always inspire us. You changed Marshall basketball for the better.”
