Former teacher charged with rape seeks reduced bond
WHITESBURG, Ky. (WYMT) - A former Letcher County teacher appeared in court for a bond hearing.
Brian Bailey, who was charged with rape, was in the Letcher County Circuit Courtroom Wednesday afternoon.
His attorney, John Combs, argued the bond, which is currently set at $250,000, should be reduced to a property bond.
The reduction would allow Bailey to be incarcerated at his home.
Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Nick Whitaker argued against reducing the bond.
“In this jurisdiction alone in recent years, people have been released under home incarceration with sexual offenses, and attempted to reach out to the minor,” Whitaker said.
Judge James Craft said he would review the bond.
Bailey is currently being held at the Letcher County Jail.
