RUSSELL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Two Kentucky parents are accused of lying about the dog attack that severely injured their 10-month-old.

According to an arrest citation, the child had multiple skull fractures and brain injuries.

State police say Emily McKinney and Joe Johnson told investigators the dog was a stray that attacked the girl while she was playing in the yard.

Officials say first responders wasted resources for hours looking for the dog.

The arrest citation says the girl’s biological father told troopers he believed the dog was actually Johnson’s.

The parents’ charges include evidence tampering and child abuse.

This is a developing story.
