HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WSAZ) - In another game where they gave the 100 point mark a scare, the Marshall women’s basketball team clinched the outright Sun Belt regular season title. They beat Georgia State 97-69 in front of over 2,500 fans at the Henderson Center and it’s the programs first regular season conference championship since 1989.

Four Marshall players scored 17 points each in the win and they are Aislynn Hayes, Abby Beeman, Breanna Campbell and Meredith Maier. The Herd improves to 16-1 in the league and have one more regular season game left on Friday night.

“I’m really happy [the team] got to have that moment,” Caldwell said. “So they got to celebrate, they got that Championship feel, which is rare. They have earned it, they deserve it, I am proud of them. I hope they remember this day as long as they live and I think they will. They have put in a lot of hard work to get here.”

The win also locks up the overall top seed in the upcoming Sun Belt Conference basketball tournament. Here are the highlights and postgame reaction from the Herd.
