ELLIOTT COUNTY, Ky. (WSAZ) - Wilma Fraley of Olive Hill, Kentucky, got the nickname from her grandson -- Granny Chicken Bok Bok.

Spending a few minutes with her, it’s not hard to figure out why.

Her singing and dancing routines have become a big hit with children in the area.

Fraley says when she was younger and facing a financial hardship, someone donated items to her for her family, and that left a lasting impact, and she’s been paying it forward ever since.

She’s on the council with the Elliott County Extension Office and volunteers with local food pantries, delivering food to people in need.

“I want to help people if I can, no matter what,” she said. “They come first.”

“She does a lot,” Tammy Huff, Fraley’s neighbor, said. “She donates a lot of her time.”

“That girl doesn’t stop,” Fraley’s neighbor Steve Smith said. “I’ve never seen so much energy in my life. She’s always dancing and keeps the kids happy. That’s what I like.”

Her good deeds, eagerness to please, and knack for putting smiles on faces has earned her this week’s WSAZ Hometown Hero award.

As she was presented the award in front of the Elliott County Public Library in Sandy Hook, Fraley performed her routines to the delight of a crowd.
