Trent Excalibur Marketing Guidelines
Visual identity is created by the way that the Athletics Centre at Trent, as an organization, is represented visually – symbols (logo), colour and typography – in any and all materials we produce and distribute.
It is especially important to have a consistent approach to visual identity as a means of establishing brand recognition in the community. Branding is also important because, both the Athletics Centre and the Trent Excalibur identity is part of a family of University logos and brands. These guidelines will help clarify how our brands are to be used and how they can work together to support the mission and vision of Athletics & Recreation at Trent University.
Use of the Excalibur logo by Student Clubs/Groups
The Trent Excalibur brand defines who we are together. It represents the spirit of sport and 1EX as a powerful, unifying force across campus. Trent University approved student sport clubs can take advantage of the influential Excalibur brand by using it to represent your club or group.
In order to maintain the integrity and significance of the Excalibur brand, it is essential to follow these important guidelines:
- Clubs or Groups must be available to all students, approved by the TCSA/Trent University club committee for the current academic year, and be sport or fitness minded.
- The Trent Excalibur crest, 1Excalibur brandmark, and their elements must stand alone in their entirety and may NOT be incorporated into a logo design or altered in any way.
- Student organizations are not required to use the Excalibur crest or branding and can create their own image. All unique student organization logos must be completely distinct from university and athletics logos and cannot be based in any way on existing trademarks.
- All uses of the Trent Excalibur brand by student organizations require review and written approval by the Marketing & Communications Assistant in the Athletics & Recreation Department.

EXCALIBUR LOGOTo protect our trademark and our identity, it is critical that our masterbrand is used consistently and correctly. Here are some examples of what not to do with the Excalibur logo:
When possible, the logo should always appear as full colour. White outlines is required when it appears on dark background.
FILE FORMATS PNG/JPG files are suitable for e-mail and website applications, as well as more informal documents. JPG files should never be printed at a large scale. EPS files are required for most professional print jobs, particularly for outside designers and printers. For large applications of the logo, or for alternative file formats, please consult with Jonathan Yue, Marketing & Communications Assistant, by email at jonathanyue@trentu.ca. |

The brand anthem graphic may only be used for promotional content as approved by the department of athletics & recreation at Trent University.
